We were scheduled to go on the Hornvik Height & Sights trip, but the weather was very stormy so Borea Adventures instead took us to Kviar House. After a fabulous hike up a ridge in the wind and rain, it was nice to return to a warm house, great food and a comfortable bed. Joonas and Carla were excellent guides and hosts. We saw the Arctic foxes, amazing scenery and we enjoyed the sauna! The Borea Adventures trip was the highlight of our trip to Iceland. We would not hesitate to take another trip with Borea.

TOTALLY WORTH IT - SPECTACULAR LANDSCAPES, ARCTIC FOX SIGHTINGS AND GREAT TOUR EXPERIENCE.

I joined the Hornstrandir Panorama tour, and it was fantastic! It was an hour boat ride to one side of the peninsula, then a rigorous hike up and down a mountain.

I would recommend this to pretty much anyone who enjoys a good hike. On our group, there were 4 adults and a ten year old boy, and none of us struggled. However, if you're someone who worries a lot or does not enjoy hiking, then this may not be the tour for you. The hike itself was not hard, but we were walking through a lot of rocky areas (exclusively rocks for an hour+). They also recommended bringing waterproof pants as part of the hike was through some snow (maybe 5-10 minutes total). It was incredibly beautiful to see glaciers in the distance, water falls, and end up at a cute little farm house Borea Adventures restored.

WHAT TO PACK: Be sure to bring a small backpack for water, sunscreen, wear proper hiking boots, a rainproof wind breaker, a good hat and gloves, and layers as it was windy at first, but as you walk up a mountain, you get pretty hot.

The tour packed our lunches for us (which we each carried) - yummy sandwiches, tea, an incredible homemade trailmix bar...

While the guides prepared dinner (fresh fish that was caught that day) at the farmhouse, we walked around the property and saw some arctic foxes up close. Then the return was another hour boat ride in the evening. I think we returned back to Islafjordur around 8pm

The guides were great- we had two for a group of 5 of us. They were enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the area, hiking and just fun to talk to on this trip. It was a very personable trip - you didn't feel like a number.

BOAT: I normally get seasick, but was totally fine on this boat. I sat outside and made sure to watch the horizon - and totally forgot about my worries because it was so beautiful!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TOUR - ESPECIALLY IF YOU ALREADY ENJOY HIKING.

My partner and I had a trip to the Honstrandir area booked with Borea, but due to an injury we had to change our plans. Tomás from the Borea office did everything to accommodate our needs, in addition to giving us heaps of information on the area. We took the ferry to Hesteyri and the ctew on the boat (Ivar and sorry, never got the other guys name) were awesome, helping me with my luggage and crutches, etc. Also met some of the hiking and kayaking guides and they were all very friendly and talkative!
Id highly reccommend Borea to anyone wanting to explore the beautiful Westfjords!

We paid too much for a simple taxi boat to go in Hornstrandir reserve. Furthermore, it arrived 1h and 15 minutes late for a 1h trip!

Unbelievable!

Hello Claudio

We've spent so much effort trying to explain to our guests how the boat schedule works. Sometimes with limited results. The following is written on the website and similar on your ticket: "If you are booking a return trip, you should be ready at the shore for the ride back about an hour after the boat departs Ísafjörður for most destinations. But note that the boat might be at your location a bit later depending on bookings that day. So, don't despair if the boat is not at your location 1,5-2 hours after it departs Ísafjörður. We will pick you up if you have a booking...!"

We never know until the day before in which order the boat runs. It depends on how many are booked to each destination, the tide (if high tide we go first to Hesteyri so we can use the small dock), there can be lot of luggage to ferry to shore, the weather and the list goes on.

I know this is unbelievable but this is how it is. The season is very short here or only three months where lots of people wants to use our services. Then nothing for nine months. I can tell you that it´s very challenging financially and we think that the ticket price is fair all things considered. At least we're cheaper then our competitors.

All the best.

This was a family adventure that will be tough to match! The kids loved being out in the wilderness with the foxes. It was just amazing.
