“Excellent for overnight stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2009

Stayed on two separate occasions while have to overnight between flights at Keflavik airport which is a 10 minute taxi ride from the hotel. The hotel was excellent for this, even overing free shuttle service to the airport early in the morning. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The showers were excellent and the beds comfortable.
Although i didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening the menu looked interesting and I would try it next time.
Breakfast was nothing special, but of good standard.

The trip wasn't assisted by Rekjavik airport being full of arguing people plus the reluctance of any taxi firm to take me the short distance (about 3 miles) to the hotel.
Slow check-in process all done with a cold stare! Room was clean and fine. Breakfast (IKR1250 extra) was OK. The hotel advertises it is on a bus route to the City Centre )Rekjavik being some 20 miles away). It isn´t - the bus stop is half a mile down a main road! Unhelpfully, though, the receptionist told me the time of the bus that stopped running two weeks earlier and left me stranded at the bus stop until I was forced into getting a taxi (IKR9000 = forty UK pounds!) to get me to Rekjavik.

On reflection, I should have gone straight to Rekjavik - transport links are far better there than to the airport hotels - and it would have been a lot cheaper.

In essence, I would stay there again but only if I needed a very early morning flight out of the airport and there were improived transport links. As a hotel it was OK- it was the rest of the package that wasn´t

I booked this hotel through lastminute.com and the hotel was not willing to honor the confirmed rate for the room. They also claim to have free airport transfers but if your flight is after 12N the bus doesn't operate. A cab is $20 US for a less then 2 mile trip....

The rooms were nice but not for what I ended up paying.

We were looking forward to a relaxing stay in this hotel after a week in Iceland. We were pleased to see on the hotel website that it had a pool and hot tub etc.
When we asked at the reception about where the pool was, they directed us up the road to the public baths! Confused, I returned to the reception with the hotel brochure from our room and pointed out to the receptionist that the hotel has a swimming pool. Only at this point did she say that indeed the hotel does have a swimming pool but was being refurbished at that time. No mention on the website + misleading and rude receptionst + no reduction in price = poor review on tripadvisor!

Also (!) when it came to checking out, they tried to charge us for breakfast that we had eaten, although there was no mention on our booking or on check-in that this would cost extra.

Overall poor communication from what is otherwise an adequate hotel.

We arrived late at Keflavik airport and therefore chose a hotel close to the airport. This is a good choice. Rooms are ok, good size, good beds, just a bit warm. The hotel is a 5 min drive from the airpot. Checkin went swiftly even at 1 pm. Breakfast is good for Icelandic standards.

We took advantage of Icelandair's free stopover on the way to England, and booked this hotel for two nights. Our main reason for choosing it was the proximity to the airport, since we had an early flight to London. Our room on the fourth floor was a typical Ikea'esque Scandinavian hotel room, with blond wood floors, duvets on the bed, two easy chairs and table, mini bar and TV. The bathroom was rather small, and no toiletries were supplied. The following morning we were moved to a deluxe room in another wing, due to renovations being done to rooms on our floor. The deluxe room was somewhat larger, with a silk bedspread, leather easy chairs, a flat screen TV mounted on the wall, and a bigger and more luxurious bathroom, with a huge shower head, and with toiletries supplied. Both rooms were immaculately clean, and unlike an earlier reviewer we did not hear any noise from other rooms.
The breakfast was also a typical Scandinavian breakfast with breads, cold cuts, cheeses, hardboiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, pastries, coffee, tea, and juices. Although not as copious or varied as some others I've had in northern Europe, it was certainly acceptable.
Since we had a rental car, the free parking was a bonus, as was the proximity to the Blue Lagoon.
