“Cozy Berg on a Stormy Night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2011

We picked the Berg Hotel for our last night in Iceland. It is located in Keflavik so it is 10 minutes from the airport which is great when you have an early morning flight. The hotel does provide shuttle service but we had a rental car to return. We were planning to leave the hotel at 6:am but the manager advised us to get there a little earlier as the tour buses arrive at 6:00.
Great advice. We arrived at the Berg in the middle of a storm with gale force winds. The hotel has a very warm and welcoming lobby with tea and coffee. The poor weather had the guests huddled in the lobby, comparing travelling notes, and the time passed quickly. The rooms are modern and immaculate. There is free parking and free WiFi. There is a spectacular view of the Harbour. Enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: try and get a room facing the Harbour.

Lovely, new, small hotel in a residential area next to the 2nd (quieter) harbour of Keflavick. The owners do free transfers from the airport for all guests. Very comfortable rooms, good breakfast, good value. What mroe to say? Stay here on your way out of Iceland and you won't regret it

Hotel Berg was wonderful. We arrived late and our key was left for us. The room was spacious and clean. The rain shower was very nice. We woke up in the morning to a spectacular view of the harbor and a nice breakfast. I would definitely stay at Hotel Berg again.

We needed a place to spend the night for an early morning flight. Hotel Berg was conveniently located 10 mins from the airport, the room was quite decent and served its purpose. The owner left basic breakfast for us to have before our flight. Recommended for a stay close to the airport.

This is a great place to stay either on arrival before setting off into Iceland or the night(s) before departure. A modern house with a cosy feel and absolutely helpful and friendly owners. Our room featured a downstairs with sleeping room for two, fridge and an upstairs with a large television and double bed. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. Everyting had been done to make the stay more pleasant with a large variety of DVDs and books of every kind in reception - we were made to feel like it was our own home for 2 days. Breakfast was continental as usual; they even offer pickup and dropoff at most times of the day to the airport from about 7am onwards. Nice view and great location overlooking the harbour. Much of Keflavik isn't very pretty but this part is just past the shopping area. After paying normal Iceland prices for two weeks, this was also amazingly good value for money at just over €100 per night for a triple room.

This beautiful little hotel could not be any better. The surroundings are breathtaking! The location is perfect, especially if you decide not to rent a car. The bus station is right across the street and it's only an hour ride to the capital. The staff is outstanding--extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all our questions, whether it was the best way to get to the Blue Lagoon or the closest place to buy knitting supplies. Breakfast in the morning was delightful and 24 hr. coffee and tea was a nice touch. There's no question that I'll stay there on my next trip!

We stayed here on our last night on our really amazing Icelandic holiday. We couldn't have made a better decision; this hotel was everything we could ask for. We didn't spend much time in the hotel itself, but if we did, we would have had a selection of DVDs and books to enjoy. Our room was facing the pathway to the reception, so we didn't have a view, but the views started right after we got out of our room. The sitting room and breakfast lounge were beautiful, and the view outside was enjoyable with all the boats in the harbour. Keflavik centre is just a short walk away and has nice cafes and restaurants.

The hotel owner was very nice, and breakfast at 5 am due to our early flight was no problem. Breakfast was adequate too although we missed the veggies, fruits and hot courses that apparently are available in normal breakfast. Our room was very clean, bathroom was nice and so new we could actually smell the wood. The shower didn't have that sulfur smell that is present everywhere else in Iceland. Only small problem came from the fact that there weren't any place in which to put our towels to dry on. We enjoyed our bed very much and got a good night's sleep before starting our journey home. Will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Iceland!
