I was expressly looking for a more intimate experience to see Vatnajokull (or any glacier) while we visited Iceland. This tour was so far beyond my expectations however. We were very impressed with our guide, Lorice! He clearly loves climbing (we asked him what he does for fun...hint frozen waterfall climbing). We rappelled down into a small blue ice cave and then learned the basics of ice picks and ice climbing before getting to climb up on our own. Since the groups are small there is plenty of opportunity to get comfortable climbing and for us to ask questions of Lorice regarding the glaciers and how they change all the time. This was a once in a life-time opportunity and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants away from the crowded tours.

We had a great time with this tour! Gium, our tour guide was very helpful, knowledgeable, and seemed to love what he was doing. Our tour was suppose to be 3 hours long, but from start to end it was closer to 6 hours! We were able to climb up two different walls, and for the 2nd wall, he repelled us down and we were able to see an amazing view of the glaciers before climbing back up! Our entire group were rock climbers and found it challenging, but it is definitely an experience I would HIGHLY recommend doing!
