We were worried that this hotel may not be as good as the ones we had stayed in up to now and we were right. When we arrived we were given a rushed welcome and some vague instructions to a Summer House. The summer house room was quite small and the double bed booked, was completely two separate beds. There was a shared bathroom but the walls were so thin we heard every bathroom movement the other occupants made. I mean everything not very pleasant. Our windows didn't have curtains or blinds on the upper windows so the light streamed in. Being summer this was not conducive to a good night's sleep. We decided to use the wifi in the sitting area in the main hotel building. But this was over run with kids tearing around yelling and a lady who decided the sofa was a good place to change her babies nappy.
Breakfast was pretty ordinary. Bread, toast and cereal. All in all a pretty disappointing stay.

Stayed for one evening last week and was extremely disappointed. We were expecting it to be more like a farm stay as we discovered it under a list of farm stays in Iceland. These are nice and rustic and often have hot tubs outside.

Hof Hotel reminded me of the sort of places one might stay on a school trip. Absolutely no charm or soul. They have spent some money on doing up the communal areas though in reality they shouldn't have bothered as the place has no atmosphere and the fixtures and fittings are cheap and tacky.

As others have said the dinner charge was outrageous, and what you get is tasty enough but does not justify the price.

The "Spa" is an absolute joke. There is a sauna but no cold shower to cool off in afterwards so you don't get any of the benefits of using the sauna. There is a hot tub but it had a thick film of dirt and oil on top of it when I went in, obviously hadn't been cleaned in days. Not to mention that the Spa was in a basement and being in there felt like being in a basement, not great if you are trying to relax.

In the pre-fab accommodation units there are very thin walls so you can hear everything.

If I had to find positives about this hotel I would say that the beds were quite comfy and the staff seemed friendly enough. I would really recommend staying away from here though, there are a lot better places to stay

This hotel is ideally situated for visiting the Skaftafell national park and for glacier tours. We had a room in the main building, which was very clean although the room was not very big, as there was no room to store our 2 suitcases so that we could open them (had to place them on the bed every time when you needed something). The facilities are shared and there is an interior hottub. Wifi is available only in the common area.
Staff was friendly although checking out took some time.
They serve dinner, but you can only choose between two dishes.
The quality is acceptable, but fairly high priced for what is offered. But is is convenient when you are around the hotel as most other places you can eat are located at 20 or more than kilometers.
Contrary breakfast is super with a lot of choices, they serve even smoked salmon.
We had some discomfort from other guests that used the common bathroom to dry swimming gear and clothes what gave some problems when wanting to take a shower...

We stayed here for 3 nights because we were visiting the Skaftafell national park and this is very close by.

This was one of the most expensive farm stays we had but the least nice.

Our room was tiny and had a musty smell.

There was only wifi in the common area and not in the room, most other farmstays has wifi in the rooms as well.

Breakfast was the standard as other places we have stayed in Iceland.

We ate dinner here one night and the food was good and rustic.

The strongest selling point of this hotel is the location. Its fairly close to the Skaftafell National park. The rooms are ok, and so are the other things. The service is also ok. We had a little bad experience, with someone who had smoked in the common bathroom in the 2 bedroom hut. So we had to change the room, drag our bags. Maybe it was a one off, else i would have given better reviews for this place.

This small hotel consist of multiple pre-fab buildings in a very small and cosy village between Skaftafell and Jokulsarlon. The staff is very friendly and speaks perfectly English. However, a major drawback is the price. The hotel is quite expensive, given the fact that the rooms are very small and noisy. Even more expensive is the dinner, paying €30 for a nothing-special fish dish is outragious even for (expensive) icelandic standards. One positive point is the breakfast, with a variety of reasonably good coffees and lovely smoked salmon as part of the buffet.

We stayed here as part of a self-drive tour arranged by Nordic Visitor, so don't actually know how much the room was. We had a room in one of the "Summer Houses", and shared a bathroom with one other room. This was not a problem. The room was very clean, but one of the smallest we've encountered in a bit over a week.

The problem was dinner. They serve a fixed-price dinner, which was considerably more expensive than anything else we've seen in Iceland to this point. Granted, we don't go in much for "fine dining", as we're trying to keep expenses to reasonable limits. But this wasn't exactly fine dining. For 4700 Icelandic kronur (about $45), you got a bowl of fairly good soup, a chicken breast in sun-dried tomato sauce, potatoes, and vegetables. As there are two of us, the evening meal cost us $90. Beer, wine, and dessert would have been extra.

Just tonight, in another touristy area (Lake Mývatn), we had big bowls of stew, a beer, a capuccino, and two desserts for $20 less than dinner at Hof 1.

There is a hotel back close to Skaftafell that isn't cheap, either, but at least you can choose your dinner. Or, you can eat at the gas station across from the hotel for considerably less. Get the lamb nuggets with fries!
