Well located by the Ring Road this hotel is an acceptable place to spend the night as you head round Iceland. Lack of competition means that prices in season are higher than you think they should be and the hotel is functional at best, but it is clean and convenient. The restaurant was shut when we stayed, but you will almost certainly be heading into Hofn to eat in any event (10 minutes down the road). We stayed (family of 6, including 4 small children) in a 'family apartment' which had only four beds, but worked fine with two mattresses on the floor. It had its own bathroom and the main bedroom had a door so it would work for two couple as well. Standard rooms (we had a peek) looked small and most appeared to have bathrooms down the hall.

Höfn doesn't have many choices when it comes to accommodation, so the local Edda hotel seemed a good option, even if a little expensive. It is clean and correct, rooms are dorm-style (as in many Edda hotels) and breakfast is ok.
Free wifi at the lounge, but no computers for the guests.
As for food, take your car and go to Höfn. Several nice restaurants to choose from.

Stopped for one night at Edda near Höfn during a trip in the South of Iceland.
The location is pretty good - right by the ring road but in a quiet area, and close enough to the small city of Höfn.
Unfortunately the hotel itself was not as good, being closer in quality to a hostel than a hotel: the rooms have only what is barely necessary (there were neither a tv nor a phone to call reception) and the decor is minimal to say the least (the neon lights were old and buzzed loudly, the light above the beds held circa 16 dead flies).
The walls are very thin: the half of us who didn't bring earplugs was up most of the night due to the loud snoring of the guest next door. The curtains were way too thin to be used during an Icelandic summer: I was woken up by the sun at 4 a.m. (it was strong enough I could read a book with the curtains pulled).
I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless the price was extremely convenient (we paid only 45€ for a night, and felt it would have been a robbery to ask more than that) and there was nothing else left. At some point I felt I should have moved to sleep in the car, at least it would have been quieter.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with white curtains, rather than pink (the white curtains are thicker).

Don't expect much - clean but characterless rooms in this motel are basic. 2 single beds in a double room can be pushed together, a desk, tiny sink, wardrobe and shared toilets and showers. The welcome is friendly and the hotel is in good working order with a lounge for all guests downstairs, but as with a lot of places other than hostels and campsites in Iceland, lacks a bit of soul.

There wasn't a whole lot of difference between this hotel and many of the other hotels/guesthouses that I stayed at in Iceland. There were one or two main distinctions, though. The hotel is further outside of Hofn, so if you want to visit the town, expect about a 5-10 minute drive. It is convenient for a place to stay right off of Route 1. The front desk staff was quieter and more reserved than at some other places, though they seemed friendly enough. The room was standard, but there was no wireless internet connection in the room. Breakfast was also an additional cost, and there was a dinner available too.
