We, a family of four (my wife and myself and two children 25 and 20 years old) stayed at guesthouse Hoffel at the end of April, while it was still freezing, and the temperature at evening (see below) was still a little below zero (while at night it dropped well below zero). The sunset occurred at 22:00 approximately. The guesthouse itself is situated near the family house, and it has two stories. We, the only guests at that night, stayed up at the villa. The rooms are big and comfortable, warm and clean. The design is quite archaic an the kitchen shows old and tired features, although quite well equipped. All in all, it was still a very convenient place to stay. However, the very best reasons to stay there is its remoteness secluded from almost any other visible settelments, the very nearby glacier, leading to the enormous Vantajokull, and the magnificent nature hot tubs which we tried late at early night, where we definitely enjoyed every of it moment although it was really freezing. Definitely a great stay! Tips: (a) Ask for the rooms upstairs, although you have to climb the stairs. (b) The nature hot tubs are free for those who stay at Guesthouse Hoffel, but others may use it too, for app. 10.-$. Don't Miss!!! (c) If you scheduled to stay off-season, check with the owners that the hot tubs are ready for use, otherwise you would have to wait for them to clean and prepare it for you.
