“Great location, clean rooms”

We stayed here for 1 night with our 1yo son. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The view is breathtaking from the hotel, make sure you get one of te rooms on the harbour side. Staff members speak very good English, but this is not a surprise in Iceland. Breakfast was also nice. We enjoyed staying here, great experience.

Guesthouse Ásgarður is right on the fiord front looking over the water towards the glaciers. Thus, if you are on the correct side (the side with odd numbered rooms) you have a spectacular view. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The breakfast buffet was standard and there is free wifi. There is no restaurant in the hotel but "Gastronomy Langoustine" or “Humarhofnin” (it seems to go by both names) is a few minutes’ walk away and is wonderful. Although they serve a variety of seafood, their speciality is langoustine, which were delicious, as was the Iceland char. Service was attentive. This would be considered an excellent restaurant in any town and to find it is a town with a population of just over 2000 was a very welcome surprise.

Room Tip: As for rooms with a glacier view (odd numbered rooms)

We stayed here as part of a week-long driving tour of South Iceland. It was very basic (think dormitory), but very clean and the owner was friendly. Our room had a fantastic view overlooking the water and glaciers...definitely the best part! It is located within easy walking distance to Hofn restaurants. Breakfast was very good (similar to other guesthouses it included meats, cheeses, fruits, muesli, etc.) Lastly, Internet was available in the common spaces. Overall, this was a nice stay...not luxurious but clean and functional.

During an organized bus tour through Iceland I stayed at this hotel during one night.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel very quiet and the bed comfortable. I slept really well here. Everything was also very clean.

The things I didn't like so much: The room reminded me more of a dormitory than a hotel room. The furniture was very simple, the floor of the bath room was painted cement. Wifi should have been available, but it didn't reach my room, I had to take the computer to the lobby to access the internet.

Overall, I don't think I would stay at this hotel again as the rooms were really not my taste. But maybe somebody doesn't mind this so much. The hotel was as whole not that bad after all.

The guesthouse is located next to the harbour (prevents you from opening the window usually, because of the odour). It is a very dated facility and resembles a Hostel rather than a nice guesthouse.
Rooms are average in size. There are minimal amenities in the rooms and are not very clean.
Breakfast is OK, though forks and knives weren't clean and food didn't seem so fresh.

If there are other options, try to stay somewhere else.

The **Asgardur Guesthouse** functions the same as a hotel, and includes breakfast. (The tripadvisor name is incorrect).

Three of us (adults) arrived in mid-August for a one night stay in a triple (3 twin beds) room. The basic amenities found in many Icelandic hotel accomodations were there: clean rooms, clean bedding (except for mine), breakfast, Wi-Fi, TV, but no in-room telephone.

As we arrived late, the bedding wasn't *too* bad, and I had a sleeping bag with me, I didn't make any fuss. The room was a decent rate for Iceland: ISK 20000. As with many/most Icelandic accommodation, this included all taxes and breakfast. The breakfast was the best one we saw in the 4 hotels we stayed in during the trip.

Staying in Hofn is "necessary" for many people travelling on the Ring Road, and I'd definitely recommend staying here. (The uploaded photos are of the views from both sides of the building)
