I did the tour of the Oasis at the foot of Mt. Hekla, & Amazing day tour to Landmannalauger at the beginning of August. Mike is so knowledgeable about Iceland and the history, and is eager to share it. Words can not even describe these two day trips. The Oasis as named by Mike, is simply put an Oasis the scenery is simply breathtaking Getting there you really need to have 4 wheel drive, as it is on a gravel road.. The Amazing day in Landmannalauger was amazing, here again by 4 wheel drive you cross three streams, and see beautiful mountains, rivers, a lake, and finally the hot springs where you can relax in the water or take a hike up the mountains. You will not be disappointed by either of these trips and Mike is the best guide that I have ever had. Thank you, Mike for two beautiful days.

Apologies for the length of this review but I didn't want to miss anything from our incredible trip.

We were in Reykjavík for only one day in July as part of a cruise around Norway and Iceland and wanted to do the Golden Circle trip, however we were keen to see Iceland and not be on a coach with 50/60 other tourists battling with limited time at each site. We had additional worries about private tours in that if we took a private tour and were late back, the ship would leave without us. After speaking to fellow cruisers on an online forum there was a large group doing a private tour with an Icelandic company with only 16 travellers so I knew we weren't the only ones in this predicament. I started researching private tour companies and came across glowing reviews about Mike Kissane of F-Stop Tours. I emailed Mike and received a response within a couple of hours. During further email correspondence we asked lots of questions which Mike promptly answered and nothing was too much trouble for him. Mike advised of the extra sights we could see during the day which we knew was going to make the trip more memorable and he eased our worries about ensuring we were back on time. We decided to book with Mike!

The day finally arrived and Mike was at the cruise terminal early and with a helpful sign for us to look out for. The normal Golden Circle trip with larger tour companies stops at 3 places Gullfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir National Park. We visited many other sites such as the mini volcanic crater Kerið, beautiful Faxi waterfall with salmon ladder, Skálholt Cathedral and other 'photo stops' along the way which were all incredible. As we were driving along Mike asked us if we would like to see some Icelandic horses and we pulled over and got out to have a stroke and take some pictures.

Throughout the day we listened to the fascinating facts, history and culture of Iceland and his love of Iceland shone through his friendly personality which really added a bonus to our trip. This is the type of experience you can't get with a large tour company and Mike was on hand to answer any of our questions.

We were never rushed at any of these sights and the bonus was Mike could take a group shot of us all! Not only did we beat the crowds to these stops and could take pictures/video without coach loads of tourists being there. Mike was even on hand with camera guidance and advice as to where to stand at Geysir to get the best pictures. Again, you wouldn't get this with a large group.

We ate lunch (not included in price) at the Gullfoss visitor centre and can throughly recommend the lamb soup. Mike also gave us the option of bringing a packed lunch if we didn't want to stop at a cafe. We finished the trip earlier than planned so Mike took us around some of the sights of the Capital which was an added bonus.

This day was best day of our holiday and we came away in absolute awe of the country and Mike's incredible passion for the sights and Iceland itself. We cannot thank him enough for the most memorable trip we've ever had and all of us would highly recommend that anyone traveling to Iceland should take a trip with Mike.

We spent two days with Mike as part of our trip to Iceland, and the sights we saw and the information he shared with us enhanced our trip greatly. We were interested not only in the sights but in the culture of Iceland, about which he is so knowledgable. Our trip would not have been nearly as fruitful and enjoyable without him. We would heartily recommend that anyone traveling to Iceland would find him a great resource for more deeply understanding a fascinating country.

Arranged a tour with Michael this June 2012 after a recommendation from friends. He was knowledgeable with all the geology, history, flora and fauna of his adopted country of Iceland. His lifetime of travel and ability to relate to people made the two tours we took with him fresh and personal. Punctual, friendly, able to anticipate our needs all while sharing his love of Iceland, makes Michael a special person. We cannot thank him enough for our trip.

My wife and I visited Iceland in Septemeber 2010 and spent 2 seperate days with Mike touring the Reykjanese Peninsula and the South Shore. He was one of the most friendly and knowledgeable tour guides we have ever expereinced and it was very clear that he loved sharing Iceland with visitors. He even gave us some camera tips. On top of everything he was extremely attentive in organizing the trip to our needs and timing and was always quick to respond to my emails (which is some times tough given how much I tend to worry when booking international trips). I can't say enough wonderful things about our expereinces with him. I would reccommend his service to ANYONE going to Iceland.
