We found this on the outskirts and I knew it was the top restaurant in Akureyi from Trip Advisor. I was a bit worried as there was nothing on the menu for restaurants but they russled me something up and it was really lovely. My boyfriend loved his fish dish too. Really attractive decor with lovely husband and wife team in a very chilled out but classy restaurant - its excellent and I would recommend to everyone.

At this restaurant, it was the general ambiance we liked rather than the food. Though not in dowtown Akureyri, it's still only 15 minutes of walking distance to the center. Inside the restaurant, the ambiance is very cosy. The menu includes lots of traditional Icelandic meals which was great for us as this was what we were looking for. Plokkfiskur (fishstew) served with famous traditional breads (cooked for 24 hours in the soil) was very delicious. Fish was served in frying pans which was very original. We tried both mink whale and puffin (though traditional, both are hard to find in every restaurant) but maybe it was psychological, we hated both. But even trying it was still an experience. Lobster was delicious. Though we can not say it was the best culinary experience we had in Iceland, we still loved this place as it offers a unique experience overall.

Ate here after reading the 'amazing' reviews on TA.

To start with, the restaurant (of over 30/40 covers) consisted of my wife and I and a table of 4 people.

From the start of the meal, the whole place seemed like disorganised chaos, as they took over 15 minutes to take our orders and then didn't have any of the wines we wanted in the wine list.

We then proceeded to order the meal and the starter came and it was nowhere near what we'd ordered, as what was brought to the table wasn't even on the menu!!

After making the corrections to our starters, we then had to wait over 45 minutes for our main course of lobster tails (circa £30) and they came out totally uncooked..!

This was the final straw of what had been a total disastrous evening and we sent the mains back without eating them.

We complained to the owner and to be fair, he didn't charge us for our starters or the wine.

We were both really dissapppointed as we wanted to enjoy a good evening and it sadly never materialised..!

Wouldn't eat here again, or recommend the place to anyone.

To get a comment like that is really sad for us but I must correct what is not right here.
To begin with only one wine on the list was not available that night and isn´t in Iceland for the moment. The starter mentioned is a smoked salmon salad which is different in look and implementation depending on the working chefs.
Regarding the lobster the waiter came to the table and told the customer that the one already cooked was not good enough and we would like to make a new one, which he accepted and seamed pleased about. The second one should have been 1 minute longer in the oven and that is our big mistake. I personally offered the customer correction but he was not in a mood to except anything.
We will continue to do our outmost to please our customers and serve fresh quality seafood!

We dined here this evening and it was fabulous. We had a salmon and beet salad (very skimpy on the beets) but otherwise very tasty. We followed with the fish of the day entree which was cod - it came served in a cast iron pan to the table. It was enough to share (which we did). We enjoyed a nice bottle of French Pinot Gris which complemented the flavours nicely. We finished off with a cappuccino and the chocolate cake....awesome!

Furniture store/art gallery turned into a restaurant during the summer = What a great idea!

This restaurant offers you a relaxed atmosphere with chilled music, beautiful artwork to look at and a delicious menu of freshly caught fish. The service is impeccable and the food is simply divine.

Everything you need after a day of sightseeing or simply to end a great day in the beautiful town of Akureyri.

Highly recommended!
