This hotel delivered what we wanted and was just right for our visit to Akureyri and Northeast Iceland. Excellent value compared to other hotels surveyed. Everything was very clean and modern, while the staff were quite responsive. The location allows for a short walk down the hill into the center of town, either through a very pleasant neighborhood or down the road going by the church - Akureyrarkirkja. Interesting trivea adorns the walls along the hallways and stairs. The view from the back is more interesting with the town campground next to the hotel providing some camper watching- though not noisy-and the beautiful mountain range about 6 km out of town. A very nice stay which we would do again.

As expected, spending alot of money gets you a room that would be considered in Iceland one of the best hotels. I found this hotel through an App for iPhone called "Be Iceland" which was great for finding hotels last minute while freelancing around the country. Plenty of parking, a 5 minute walk from main city center, Very modern hotel, efficient checkin & best breakfast/staff in Iceland. The room was ultra modern & the setup wasnt to my taste, but it served us well. The bed is in the middle of the room, to the left was an entry into the shower, no door -just a curtain. Which means if im taking a 30minute Hot Shower, the room becomes humid since theres nothing to separate the hot air from the sleeping area -Odd but at least the shower has epic amount of pressure & hot water. Now to the right of our bed was the entry into the toilet area, and Yes it did have a super heavy sliding glass door which didnt always close all the way. Here was the sink & toilet, felt oddly close to whoever slept on the right side of the room. Flat screen tv on the wall & very nice beds, plenty of space to organize your belongings. Im sure this would be considered the Ritz of iceland, especially at that rate. We had rented wifi to take around the enitre country from reykjavik, so i do not know if wifi was included, but be sure to check out the italian restaurant "bella vita" -it is great.

Room Tip: get a room near the breakfast area. food is so good.

Good points - large hotel with great size rooms. We had a disabled room (not requested) but came with very spacious bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities and large no of tv channels.Comfortable beds but with "watch out you don't hit your head" shelf above the bed.
Not so good points - overlooking very busy campsite which was quite noisy til late at night. Off centre so a steep but short climb in and out of the town centre, Breakfast very busy and very standard with a lot of tour buses using the hotel - we opted out on the second day and had breakfast in a cafe in the town centre which was much nicer.

The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk outside of town. The room was very modern. Breakfast was included in my stay which was very traditional for northern Europe. It was well suited for my needs, and I hope to return someday. It is across the street from the city pools which you get access for being a guest at the hotel. I was offered an upgrade for more money, but I did not opt for it. The building seems like an old dorm that has been converted into a hotel.

Right across the street from the City pools with hot tubs, lane swim, plunge pools, watersides and a fun waterfall/hottub for all ages! The design of this hotel and all IcelandAir Hotels actually is gorgeous. Everything you need, in a larger than average size for a European hotel room. Comfortable beds with duvets. I was there again in May and the sun was getting pretty full. We enjoyed it, and the spectacular view of the mountains, but they have full black out curtains too.

The lobby lounge is a terrific place to stop for a drink, or even hang out wit your friends. There is a back courtyard, which is sort of sunken down into a berm of land, which is generally sunny in the afternoon/evening and protected from the wind. If you ask, they even have an outdoor fireplace they can fire up...

The breakfast is outstanding - fresh fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, muesli, toasts and pastries...they even have a waffle iron! We also had dinner in the restaurant and it was amazing. Creative and delicious, I had the Char, there was also a couple of other meats and vegetarian choices. Perfectly sized portions...hearty enough to satisfy after a day hiking, swimming and playing hockey, but not embarrassingly gargantuan. They do change their menu, so check it out if you have any dietary stuff to work with. I'm sure they will do their best to accommodate.

Did I mention the outstanding staff? They all seem genuinely happy to be there; very helpful and hard working. Go and have fun in North Iceland and let IcelandAir Akureyri take care of you!

Room Tip: Get one on the Mountain side for the view, but if you want to see the fjord and part of the town, th...

Spent one night here...after two weeks in small guesthouses, it was nice to land in a full service modern hotel. Service was friendly and efficient. Check in was very quick. Lots of parking
Our room was a nice size, bright and clean. The ledge above the end of the bed is a bit awkward.
Breakfast was typical Icelandic...lots of it..loved the Skyr.
Location is a 10 minute walk to downtown but a longer uphill trudge back to the hotel
Free wifi in room was quick.
Nice shower with very good pressure

This hotel is very sleek in a Scandinavian kind of way, and very attractive. The rooms are very nice as long as the quirks don't bother you: there are no stoppers in the sinks (this is the "vision" of the designer, apparently - all very fine if you don't need to wash your face or your socks or shave - I borrowed an ice bucket from the bar so we could do these things); there is a shelf head-height behind the bed - makes it very hard to sit in bed to read - and although there is a settee/chaise lounge that would be wonderful to read on, it doesn't have an overhead light so even in the Icelandic summer it is not really adequate for reading in the evening; the heavy frosted glass sliding door that (semi) hides the toilet vibrates irritatingly every time you open or close it, and you had better be good friends (or long married) to your travelling companion - the glass door does not provide much "sound privacy", shall we say. The TV channels (according to hubby) were very poor in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at in Iceland. And be warned, this hotel is up a very steep hill from the tourist/shopping main drag. On the upside, our 5th floor room had a fabulous view of spectacular mountains Trollafall and Hlioarfjall. But on the whole, these are only minor complaints. The breakfast buffet (cold, with the exception of make-your-own waffles) was very good, our dinner there was also quite good, I would certainly stay there again should I revisit the city. I guess I just felt a few things could have easily been improved upon...
