We booked this hotel directly for the weekend and could not be happier with our choice. Staff was very friendly, especially the girl who checked us out on Monday, April 9th. I am sorry I did not get her name but she really made our day. The entire hotel is new and nicely furnished, simple, modern and clean. We really enjoyed our breakfast, especially the herring was something new and delicious. Our room was on the top floor with a view of the fjord and mountains. This hotel might be a best choice when staying in Akureyri to explore many interesting areas of the Northern Iceland. I only wish we had more time to stay since there is so much to see and do, especially if you are hiring a car.

We stayed at the Icelandair Hotel Akureyri for a long weekend with our four kids. We were given two connecting rooms which worked perfectly and a third room across the hall for the teenagers. The stay was very nice and you feel very welcome the minute you walk into the lobby. The hotel has a very Scandinavian design and the lobby is very cosy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made you feel right at home.

Would definitely reccommend this hotel in Akureyri.

Icelandair hotel Akureyri is a really nice, recently done up hotel. A good choice for an Icelandic hotel. The lobby has a good feel to it. You can sit down and have some nice cocktails or high tea. The rooms as very clean and airy. The hotel is located beside the swimming pool, which is a good thing and you only have to walk about 10mn. to the city center.

We stayed for two nights visiting the north of Iceland and looking for the northern lights. The hotel is new, modern, very clean with a free parking. It is located uphill, a 10 minutes walk from the city center. For those don’t like walking up hill, use the church stairs instead. Our room (509) had a great view to the fjord, the church and the pool, especially lovely in the night. The bathroom is split in two areas behind the bed area, one the toilet and sink and the other the shower. The breakfast area was spacious and the breakfast OK. During our stay there it seems that there was a big group at the hotel so one of the days when we went for breakfast (9 a.m.) there almost nothing left and it seemed no replacements were made. The next day the breakfast was better. The reception staff was very friendly and gave us suggestions for northern lights “spots.”

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the fjord.

We stayed here for 2 nights
The Staff were very helpful and or though it's a 3 star I think it should be a 4 star
Our room was overlooking the ski area in the mountains which looked really nice at night
The area is hilly but very nice
There are a lot of nice places to eat and plenty of coffee shops around

Stayed at the Icelandair Hotel in Akureyri during a short business trip. Have been to Akureyri more times than I can possibly count, but this was the first time I stayed in a hotel.
The hotel is in a fairly good location. It is right across the street from the swimming pool and just a few minutes walk to the downtown area. It is also right next to the camping ground, which can get busy in the summer, but when I was there, snow and wind kept it very quiet.
The hotel is brand new, occupying a completely renovated building. The interiors of the rooms are nice and comfortable, modern and clean. The design of the "bathroom" is novel as it is split into two halfs that occupy a whole side of the room, with the shower in one part and the toilet and sink in the other. A rather neat solution.
I was not too happy with my location - was placed right above the entrance - but it ended up being okay. Breakfast was served in a well designed comfortable room on the first floor. The food was fine but did not really stand out.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. As we booked this directly, it was fairly easy to call for a taxi from the wall phone at the arrival hall. Roughly costing GBP10. The hotel decor is Scandanvian, clean with friendly and helpful reception staff. Our room had quirky seperate shower and toile arrangement behind the bed! The Hotel is slight out of town, about 10 minute walk down hill into the town centre but it feel steep walking uphill. The weather whilst we were there was freezing with snowfalls, the public footpaths were clear
We stayed over the weekend and the Resturant was closed and had to go intown for a meal. We went to town to look for a bar but found they were all closed and open very late in the evening, so had to return back to the Hotel bar. We also purchased some food items at a 10min walkeable grocery store near the hotel. The hotel does offer a small snacks like preprepared sandwiches (non vegetarian)/drinks/fruits and crips etc,

Breakfast was a fairly good standard cold buffet but a brillant waffle maker.

Akureyri is fairly small and recommend that you plan excursions.

Room Tip: Stay at the higher levels, we stayed on the 5th floor overlooking the pool
