“Excellant tour and guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

We arrived by cruise ship and was met at the dock when our ship arrived. We packed at least 2 days into our full day with Christian our guide, who spoke excellant English , he took us to everything and more of what was promised. He was determnined we would not miss anything, we even swam in the nature baths for our lunch hour instead of eating. He was mindful of when we needed to be back and we arrived back just before it was time for our ship to leave. It was great value for money and it was the very best day of our 21 day vacation. Thank you for showing us so much. The falls was great but only the begining of the adventure....

“The Travelling Viking is the one to choose”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

On a recent cruise to Iceland on the Celebrity Eclipse, which, by the way, was a beautiful ship, we went on a tour of Akureyri with a company called The Travelling Viking. Our guide was fantastic, and she pointed out all the interesting parts of the countryside as we travelled through the remote landscape. We were taken to a geothermal pool which was fantastic. There was a small fee to pay, however, but we all went for a swim and a relaxing hour passed too quickly, as the steaming waters did their job. Afterwards we went for lunch in a little restaurant that our tour guide knew which was off the beaten track to enable us to eat in peace. What a little gem it was. Beautiful panini's and local beer. Wonderful. Then it was back to the ship, in our comfortable minibus, and an unforgettable trip was over. I thoroughly recommend this company whenever you are in Akureyri.

“Great Icelandic experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

The Traveling Viking gave us a great experience and a glimpse into the mystical, beautiful world of Iceland. We saw some amazing sights and the commentary was excellent. I have also learnt a little about the Trolls of Iceland. I would highly recommend this tour company to anyone who visits Iceland. We will certainly be back.

“Full Day Tour from Cruise Ship”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

We were met at the dock by Lilja from The Traveling Viking. We had the most wonderful day despite some pretty misty weather. We were visiting Akureyri on Celebrity Eclipse nd booked the tour independently as there were 12 of us. we had a small coach so there was plenty of room to spread out and did not feel cramped. Lilja was very informative and spoke excellent English, she looked after us very well. Thank you Lilja.

“Great Guide, Cramped Jeep”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Jon Thor was terrific on my excursion to Askja. He's super-knowledgeable about the entire region around Akureyri, funny, accommodating and good company for an almost-16 hour day. He and Evelyn, his assistant for the day, took turns driving and narrating the scenery, which is, of course, spectacular. I have only two complaints. First, Jon Thor and Evelyn chatted away in Icelandic for much of the trip. I know they are friends, but I felt it was a little rude. More important, there were five passengers: two in the third bench seat and three in the middle. It was extremely uncomfortable the entire time and it exacerbated my back problems to sit awkwardly smashed between the door and my seat partner, all while riding over bumpy dirt roads. And I had the "good" seat! This is relatively minor, and I certainly don't begrudge Jon Thor the opportunity to fill his tours, but five adults is just too many.
