Stunning location overlooking fjord. Spent some time in evening lazing in the hot tub just gazing at the view. Just wish we had obtained a room facing that way. Friendly, helpful staff and unobtrusive service. Food was exceptionally good and exceptionally expensive. We had the lamb and lovely though it was, I think I would eat elsewhere if I stayed there again. The room was comfortable and had everything you need. Lovely, relaxing place to stay as long as you can afford it.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the fjord.

If you live in Iceland Hotel Glymur is one of those close by nature hotels that you can choose to spend 2 or 3 days just relaxing. The price is average thinking about other offers around. You have a nice view of the bay and also can enjoy hot pot outside while you have some glass of wine. Food was good, i got the lamb and was delicious. The morning buffet breakfast was ok. Service in general good. recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room outside, you will have your own hot pot. The rooms are differently decorated. The roo...

We stayed for thee nights, so glad the hotel was excellent as the weather wasn't. A beautiful view over the fjord, which was covered in snow. Excellent food, although a bit expensive, although expected that in Iceland. Very warm and comfortable, we enjoyed the hot tubs which we reached through the wind and snow. Would have liked to have seen more of Iceland, but because of the weather lots of roads were closed, even so the scenery was amazing. Sadly no Northern lights in such overcast weather. Staff very friendly and helpful. Yes the hot water does smell sulphurous but we didn't think it was unpleasant.

Room Tip: Get a superior room overlooking the fjord

I had read that Hotel Glymur was top end, and they don't exaggerate. Set on a hillside with commanding views of the fjord, it is quite lovely. The weather was just picking up after a previous storm, so we probably didn't actually see it at its best but I cannot fault the staff friendliness, service or the restaurant and food - excellent breakfast!!. We enjoyed the hot tub, and my daughter managed to leave her small camera behind in one the bathrobes provided. Unfortunately it ended up going through the wash but was none the worse for its adventures when we retrieved it several days later. Staff were at pains to help us get the camera back. (good advert for water proof Olympus cameras, by the way!). I would love to return to this exceptional hotel. Recommended.

Room Tip: From what I gather, most rooms are on split levels, which we liked, but if not suitable for you then...

We stayed here on the last night of our Iceland trip after a very long drive from our previous hotel via the F338 under the Langjokull glacier. The rooms are quite small and the beds and bedding really uncomfortable - not traditional Nordic bedding and you can tell the difference. Views across Hvalfjordur breathtaking and the hot tub is great (there were two but one was not working). The breakfast in the morning was fantastic with great choice and quality, I would especially recommend the freshly baked walnut bread and chocolate croissants!

We stayed for one night only in a standard room - rooms on two floors with mezzanine for beds - two of the slimmest twin beds I have ever seen - dated furnishings and strange mix of modern office world style furniture with 'traditional' items - footstools and tiny cushions etc. The hotel uses the Reykjavik model for water (35% pure hot spring mixed in with filtered?) so it smells very sulphurous in the bathrooms. No kettle but did have a little one cup George Clooney style coffee machine in the room. Lovely guy on reception, friendly staff, dinner OK (nothing very special in comparison with everywhere else we stayed but overall it was fine) breakfast buffet was excellent though! Lots of car parking, small TV in room (couple of English speaking channels) and bathrobes for hot tub walk in room. Sadly weather obscured any views however when travelling home we passed hotel again and can confirm on a clear day they would have been glorious!

Room Tip: Twin beds absolutely tiny!!

Really a great place to clear the mind and appreciate life.

Don't expect high class, just expect wonderful views and great company
