Lovely location with a great view across the fjord. Central for many trips and ideally situated to see the Northern Lights, which we did thanks to a wake up call from reception. Food excellent, rooms great, split level with the beds on the upper section. Really comfortable, friendly and an excellent atmosphere. Outdoor hot tubs with a lovely view and plenty of short walks through rugged countryside. Well worth a stay, but travel the long way round the fjord instead of through the tunnel. It's worth the extra half an hour for the scenery.

Really nice eclectic hotel located off the main routes. Excellent views from the main hotel rooms which were kept very clean. The hot tubs were a great way to loosen off after a days trekking & driving, it's a shame the northern lights weren't active as these would have been the perfect place to watch. Breakfast was provided and was faultlessly pleasant and a very varied selection, evening meals although pricey were excellent, worth the money by Icelandic standards and by far the best meals we had.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is decorated with the most wonderful textile art making it feel homely, welcoming and very unique. The bed was very comfortable, the linens crisp and clean. There was no kettle but a coffee maker which made it difficult to make tea as the water didn't get hot enough and tasted of coffee. There was a fridge in the room. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as it was expensive, we ate out at lunchtime and had a sandwich in the evening. The setting is wonderful overlooking the fjord and the view from the hottub makes you want to linger. We sat there in a blizzard, amazing. This was our 3rd trip to Iceland, we love it.

We just stayed 2 nights in Villa Creativity and the villa is amamzing. It had a hot tub kept constant at 38 degrees. view of the fjords were just breath taking. Breakfast selection is huge and very filling. We havent seen the smaller rooms, but i reckon if you can afford it, go with one of the villas available, you wont regret it!

The hotel is about 35km from Borganes and about 24km from Arkanes. We went to both towns and we prefered Arkanes, they have supplies there as well from Bonus supermarket and its a small quaint town, we had a great time just walking around the neighbourhood, its not to be missed.

Dinner was a splendid affair, like what most people mentioned, serving is slightly on the small side, but it still filled you up, quality is very good and it is expensive.

They have the northern lights wake up call but its a pity that we didnt get to see the norhtern lights while we were there. The hot water in the shower does smell strongly of sulphur but you will get used to it after a while. THe floors of the villas were all heated so it felt extremely comfortable.

overall, go for the villas, you wont regret it. THeres a small church at the end of the road of the hotel, go there and have a view of the fjords, its stunning there. On the way back to Rejkavik, instead of turning right towards Arkanes/Borganes, we turned left instead back to Rejkavik, the journey is about 20km longer, but we got to see the other side of the fjords, the view is alot more spectacular compared to the other side.

Room Tip: Go for the villas and face towards the fjords, you wont regret it!

3 nights in the Villa Nature, great facilities, fabulous views of the fjord from the deck and hot tub.
The hotel itself serves an excellent breakfast and the staff are very good, the manageress gave us a lot of help to plan a day out which was extremely useful.
Saw the Northern Lights each night so our trip was a huge success. Hotel has a call system if the Lights are coming out so you don't have to sit up all night. Remember to pack thermals, temperature might not seem low (-3 or 4) but wind chill is murderous.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the villas, particularly if you go with a couple of friends, well worth it.

My Wife Eileen has already reviewed the Hotel. I would just add that I felt it had a really friendly atmosphere that I loved since I normally stay in 4* + corporate hotels that are soul less. I would definitely come back here and Eileen also forgot to mention we also saw the fabulous Northern Lights because of th hotel wake up service.

Just returned from Iceland and the Hotel Glymur, stayed in a a villa which was well equipped very comfortable and had a stunning view of the fjord.
Main Hotel was excellent, food really good although choice of main courses a bit limited when eating there every evening. However, staff excellent nothing too much trouble and manageress very kindly sorted us a helicopter trip which was an unforgettable experience particularly as we were picked up by helicopter from the Hotel. It was awesome .
Thank you Hotel Glymur for making our stay in Iceland so special.

Room Tip: If travelling with a family I would suggest the villas as you get all the same facilities as Hotel b...
