“Family enjoying a meze meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

Food very good, full of locals and a few tourists. Nice atmosphere and live music. We got here at about 8pm and an hour it was full, so go early or book.

Village location and lovely atmosphere. But only go there if you are really hungry! The food just keeps on coming. The best Meze we have had for a very long time

“This IS a meze restaurant - the best in the area!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

I am really really surprised by some of the reviews here which sound like they were left by people who did no research before dining here at all. Cenap is famous for being a meze restaurant - that's what they offer although I suppose you could ask them for a single dish and they'd be happy to prepare it for you. But the full meze is what people come here for. And it is a full meze - an endless parade of small dishes. The first course is possibly 20 tiny plates of cold dishes: hummous, dipping vegetables, russian salad, couscous salad, mixed salad, seafood salad, octopus salad, beetroot, salsa, dolmades, mushroom salad, white cheese, herring salad, sardines, broad beans, asparagus, olives, capers.... bread, garlic butter, yghurt, tzatziki, etc etc the dishes are small. Then comes a parade of hot dishes - fried haloumi cheese (a single slice), chicken shish, mussel shish, deep fried crap claw, lamb shish, sausage. Finally fruit, then coffee and a liquer of your choice. It costs about 40 ytl each for all this. You dont and are not really expected to eat it all and after the cold offerings, you are offered each hot dish to accept or refuse. And of course this experience can take as long as you want it to, there is no rush. When we went we were the only non Cypriots in there - always a great sign. There was a large group celebrating Christmas and the mood was very festive and jolly. A three piece music group played Cypriot music and sang and a lot of the diners sang along and at times got up and danced, inviting us to join in. It was a great night, thoroughly enjoyable. Service was very friendly and excellent. They fell over backwards to ensure that we were happy with the food and having a good time. This was our third visit here and we will always return when we are in Cyprus. 40 ytl is the norm for a meze of this size and quality. You can pay less, and we often do, at other places but they are not comparable. You have to know that its a lot of food and go hungry, or just dont go there!!!Its great value for money though. Thats about £13 for literally all the food you can eat, plus coffee and brandy at the end. Nothing to complain about there pricewise. They have a large indoor dining room which is attractive and warm. There is also an outdoor garden where you can eat in good weather. They weatherproof part of it all year for smokers. There is a car park to the rear of the restaurant. To find it,drive through the main streeet of Alsancak, past the beleyedesi, it is ahead in the village centre on the left hand side. Opposite B&I kebab house. Try it. Go hungry and you wont be disappointed.
