A lovely resort. Yes, it is a bit dated in style with drapes, dark wood furniture, bathrooms& kitchens needing updated and a bit past their best, BUT, the place was spotless, comfortable, very good maid service with daily towel changes & very other day sheet changes. The 3 pools & surrounds were excellent, loads of sunbeds & brollies and shady areas under trees. Lovely grounds (the garden bit) although the shrubbery & trees had got a bit large and blocked the stunning mountain views. The poolside & evening restaurant was good, the restaurant staff excellent. Reception very on the ball and most helpful. The one apartment problem we had was dealt with within the hour. Can't ask for more than that!! The Ranch bar was disappointing, no entertainment or atmosphere at all although the venue itself had promise with a good terrace. Needs someone to shake it up a bit. Overall, a good resort well worth a visit. It is a little bit isolated, but a 10-15 minute walk brings a good restaurant (begins with letter 'A') into play, also an American 1950's/60's style soda diner with great pizza's & other stuff. And an absolute little gem of a pub/bar called 'Old Olivo'. Built around a 150yr old olive tree, grape vines & other climbers for a roof, a hedge for a roadside wall, back wall of trellis & more climbers. Young couple called Ediz & Fizza are the owners/hosts and they are terrific. Pay them a visit.

Room Tip: We had a one bedroom semi-detached house basically, on the south side of the main access road. Roomy...

This is a nice quiet location just outside the main area town in the north. Good place if you just want to have a nice quiet relaxing break. We went self-catering as it is a good base to travel from, to visit other areas. The 1 bedroom villa was clean and tidy and had everything that we needed. This was cleaned every day by pleasant staff. We found all the staff very helpful and informative and most of friendly, especially the maintainance man when he came to sort our smoke detector. Car hire is provided at very reasonable rates, and there is a good choice of vehicles. When we have visited the restaurant we found an excellent selection to choose from. The adult pool only is a very good idea. Its pity that other hotels don't have this. This was our 4th year here and wouldn't consider anywhere else and look forward to next year.

Room Tip: Villas are all nice and any above no. 53 are quieter

In the last couple of years of travelling round Europe, which includes also many Greek islands and various hotels there, this is definitely the worst Hotel we stayed in.
From the very first moment we found out we booked the wrong place; at the check in they gave us the room we did not book; it was the old, dirty and shabby bungalow, so we immediately complained at the front desk. They quickly swapped our room (which showed us immediately that it was their attempt to put us in the cheaper unit), and they gave us a King Suite instead (without even apologizing). The new room we were given was big and spacious with a nice terrace overlooking the pool area.
Regarding the location, this place is totally out of hand, so if you don’t have a car you are stuck in the resort (which is good for guests with small kids who want to stick by the pools for the whole vacation). They do have organized bus transportation to the beach though, but the beaches there are undeniably the worst on the whole island.
The greatest disappointment was the food. Cheap and greasy ham, margarine instead of butter, disgusting packed jams, and scrambled eggs were served for breakfast. Ok, there were also a lot of sweets (which looked nice) but for those who want to have a decent breakfast in the morning, apart from cookies and cakes, there was nothing to choose from. Moreover, it was the same every day. We were on half board basis, so we did not have lunch (luckily). Dinner was even worse than breakfast; overcooked pasta covered with a pinch of canned tomato sauce, rice and potatoes, and a fatty fried fish. Some days there was some meat served which was actually not too bad, but for a 4 star hotel this is unacceptable. The variety of salads and sweets was quite good though, to be honest.
To make a long story short, if you want to stay in a 4 star hotel and are willing to pay more money for it, this is NOT a place to spend your holiday. On the other hand, if you are looking for a budget option, this hotel is overpriced for what it offers!
Would definitely not recommend this hotel nor would we ever come back. Complete disappointment.

Room Tip: beware to ask for a room you booked!!!

We booked a villa for two adults and two children. Despite having to arrive 12 hours late due to flight changes, the staff seemed surprised to see us. We had been travelling all night and there was no where to get even a drink of water. We spent one night in the villa then the next day they began renovating the adjoining villa by using a jackhammer to remove tiles on the shared walls. My partner went to complain, reception kept phoning to talk to me but I was unable to hear anything that was being said.. and yet the phone kept ringing! They apologised and said it would stop... it didn't. They offered us a move to two adjoining one bedroom villas, much further from the pool. We moved. After one night in the new accomodation, the airconditioning broke. Two days later we were asked to move again as they had been unable to fix it. We moved again and were promised that we would be refunded one night's accomodation for the inconvenience (they later denied that this had ever been said and we never recieved a discount). recpetion was often very busy. The owner was very confrontational with the staff who seemed to work very hard and she didn't seem to care what a bad impression this gave. The food was hit and miss. One day my partner ordered pasta arribiata and got spaghetti bolognaise with lots of olives, when I ordered it a few days later, it came with chicken! Staff seem friendly enough and the pools are lovely but the problems with our accomodation just seemed to be a hassle for the hotel and nothing was done to make up for this. Three moves in just a weeks holiday! No apology! Not good enough!

We arrived at Riverside late on a Sunday The reception was crowded with people watching Tv and the reception area was very dated we were shown to 2 interconnected villas(we booked a two bedroom villas 4months previous) 46/47, which were not what I expected of a 4*resort chipped tiles, shower door hanging off, tatty toilet seat and other such things we did not unpack . The view was terrible next day we went to reception and asked to be moved we were shown a room that would be avaiable from the wednesday( the resort was fully booked) it was far better and we duly changed to no 77/78. The staff were very nice and very helpful although badly organized they tried hard to please the pools and gardens were kept in very good condition and the breakfast was okay a bit of a change of fruit from day to day would have been nice and perhaps a change to the cooked food We hired a car this was quite old with a lot of miles on the clock but the air conditioning was excellent. We probably wont go back to this area again but we did have a nice holiday the boat trip was great book on the harbour in Kyrenia much cheaper for the same thing. Blue door restaurant on main road turn left was very nice the one just down the road cant remember the name but begins with A was good but service was very slow.

Room Tip: Higher the number newer the room more modern My room score related to the 1st room the 2nd was avera...

First issue after 13 hours traveling was that the Villa had been double booked, a terrible oversight according to the management but nothing could be done. 'Why not come back tomorrow?' We were offered two adjoining 1 bed units with a temporary bed put up in the lounge instead of the 3 bed booked, we were told this would be fine for the 2 weeks. Through other holidaymakers we later found this to be the general booking practice of the resort. After much complaining we were moved after 3 nights and given 3 days free car hire as compensation, a ten year old Talbot that had gone through the clock at least once with broken seat belts, smashed lights and blown airbags that had not been replaced. The whole resort is very tired, only sign of refurbishment in recent years being the breeze blocks 10mm behind the kitchen window. The kitchen was far beyond fully equipped, we even had to ask for a kettle. The patio area was okay, furniture would have been useful. Pools were good, save normal 8AM fight for sunbeds, attendants not present.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

We have just returned from our two week holiday at Riverside Garden Resort and feel that we should warn other holiday makers about our poor welcome. We had booked (and paid for) a two bedroom villa and were very disappointed when they showed us to our accommodation which was a one bedroom appartment. When we pointed out the error we were told that a two bedroom villa was not available and we would have to stay in the accommodation shown and use the pull down sofa bed in the living area with no air conditioning. They didn't seem bothered. It was only when we began to make a fuss that they promised a two bedroom villa the following day. We felt that this was not acceptable as we had paid for the larger villa for the whole period. They offered a meal at the restaurant to the value of the difference in cost. They seemed oblivious to how upset we were and the manager went home whilst the issue was still unresolved. During the holiday we spoke to other families who had experienced similar welcomes and it would seem that moving people around different accommodation is not uncommon. We had a very uncomfortable first night - too hot, too squashed and too noisy. We were moved the next day to a two bedroom appartment (not a villa!) and given 4 days free car hire.
In contrast to the welcome, we enjoyed the rest of the holiday and our two children loved the aqua park pool.

Room Tip: Choosing accommodation type prior to arrival was not honoured.
