“Enjoyed a good time at what is a small Niazi resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

5 nights bed and breakfast was good value - Royal top floor balcony room - though we might go for the front situated hotel in which we viewed very nice top floor room with outstanding sea and beach views. Water clear in bay tempted us to swim. Buffet breakfast chaotic during bayram festival but as soon as full hotel dispersed to normal occupancy levels it was much better. This is more a criticism of other thoughtless (can't queue, won't queue types - much prefer pushing in or bumping in) guests than the service quality and food supply at the hotel which was good. The waiters can seem to take the used plates and cups away quick enough - sometimes even before you had finished! We'll be back in 2014.

In our book the Denizkizi can't be beaten. On arrival you are warmly welcomed and, if a return visitor, remembered by the friendly staff. The rooms, which have been recently refurbished, are of a very high standard with king size high quality beds. The food is varied, fresh and plentiful. The position of the Denizkizi is unrivalled, overlooking its own beach and you can lie in bed looking at the moonlight on the Mediterranean Sea while listening to the waves on the shore. The gardens of the hotel are well kept with fruit trees supplying figs and bananas to to the restaurant. The pool is the most beautiful we have ever seen and has its own bar/cafeteria. There is also a beach bar which enjoys cooling sea breezes and is the popular choice for most visitors. The flowering shrubs are a delight with the vibrant colours of bougainvillea much in evidence. The views to the mountains are wonderful. One cannot write a review on this hotel without praising the owner, Mr Niazi, who is a constant presence and attentive to the needs of his guests. Even the "outside guests", the cats, are cared for and our favourite grey cat from last year is still here and looking good. This is our second visit to the Denizkizi and we aim to make it an annual, if not bi-annual event. Thank you, Mr Niazi and staff. You are all wonderful.

We booked a 9 night Oct holiday. The whole experience exceeded expectations. From being picked up at @ Larnaca airport in the south by Bird taxi/rent a car based in Kyrenia who offer fab service at £50 each way, booked on line & confirmed etc... Very good. Hired a 2005 Ford Focus for £17 per day from them and it was absolutely fine. Arrival at hotel late & dark, 3rd floor large ish sea view room with balcony in the Royal, set back from other hotel away from the beach but with lovely view of sea & mountains & gardens/grounds of hotel. Did not see the new Denizikizi Hotel rooms but told they are lovely & refurbished. We were more than happy with our hotel. Breakfast & dinner & drinks served in other hotel, but a tiny tiny walk across car park. Breakfast was fine, lovely yoghurt & honey, dinner buffet style but we only had 2 nights as we always explore & eat out when on hols. Fresh, staff attentive, hygiene high on agenda. Beach lovely, cove & crystal clear waters & some fishes to see. Nice sun loungers, plenty of them, umbrellas. All very good.Ate several days at the beach restaurant, the seftali kebabs ie sausages best I have ever tasted. All kebabs lovely. Very good lunch. Had the lamb cooked in a well Sunday lunch and the lamb was fabulous, flavour & whole meal well worth the money and lovely setting. Finally, this is a family owned hotel & Niazi the owner, for many many years, with other family members run the hotel. Niazi, a character who is still with finger on the pulse re his hotels, making sure the customer experience is the very best. He really cares about you having a good time & nothing too much trouble. A strong character who owns several restaurant and other enterprises locally & in Nicosia. All in all, we had a ball, chilled, relaxed, lots of sleep. Not sure about karaoke cos we heard nothing, just peace and quiet & we were there for 9 nights ? Lovely pool, chilly, let's say refreshing but colder than the sea. All very clean, with lots of changing facilities & must be 33m rather than 25m. You really could do lengths. Highly recommend for all of the above. If we went back to places would definitely go back. We left refreshed and happy, as I said firstly our holiday exceeded expectations.

By sure not one of the most luxurious hotels in the Kyrenia district but probably one of the best considering price-quality ratio. At a rate of 80-85 euro per night (including brakfast) Denizkizi offers a well mantained structure (in fact are two, one close to the beach, the second a little behind), efficient and warm personell, a nice beach and a large pool with a bigminus: water is not climatized and it's really too cool to have a pleasant swim. The hotel is located in Alsancak, about 10 minute car from the town center.

This was our second stay here and this year we booked a suite which was fantastic. We had a 'wrap around balcony' to our three sets of french windows, excellent views of the sea and the mountains at the same time. The food is good and the service welcoming. The staff were a little preoccupied at times as both hotels were full in the third and forth week of September.
The lime, pomegranate & fig trees of the grounds were all in fruit and there was an array of colour from the bougainvilleas. The sea was clear & warm, although fully booked there was ample room on the beach or by the pool. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to forget their worries and truly relax.

Room Tip: The Royal building can have more noise than the other due to taxis etc. dropping off and collecting...

" Please complain to the airline desk," murmured the lady standing next to me at the luggage carousel in Larnaka Air port."They won't listen to us: we're Cypriots. They might listen to you." I'd noticed a gaggle of people muttering in Greek at the employee sitting at the Customer Services desk of Cyprus Airlines, the company with which we had flown that afternoon but hadn't put two and two together. Since the luggage had stopped arriving however, with half the passengers still waiting anxiously, I should have been more vigilant and realised that something was wrong. It was! The handlers had gone on strike. By now it was getting very late and we had a pre-booked taxi waiting for us to drive us to the north. What on earth could we do? We couldn't go without our belongings. Feeling somewhat aggrieved, we strode towards the poor Cyprus Airlines employee and complained. Suddenly she pointed at the carousel. It was moving.. After an hour's delay we were able to collect our cases and move towards the exit and there, waiting patiently for us was our driver. Soon we were tucked up in a comfortable Mercedes people- carrier sipping from the bottles of cold water he handed us and after an hour and a half booked into the hotel.

It was so dark outside that it was only in the morning that we were able to appreciate the charm and beauty of this hotel resort. Responding to my request for a sea view the management allocated us a room in the newly renovated Denikizi which is closer to the sea line than the Royal, which is set back on the hill. Since I always enjoy a balcony it took me a day to fully appreciate the benefits of the new double glazing which has been used to enclose the balcony area , adding extra space to what must have been previously a somewhat cramped room. Now, guests are able to slide back fifty per cent of the glazing when required to turn the whole room into a delightful airy space overlooking a wonderful vista of private beach, swimming pool and exotic gardens, which provide fresh bananas, dates and figs for the table. At night all noises and external lighting are eliminated by closing the highly effective windows, drawing the thick curtaining and operating the excellent air-conditioning. As a result we enjoyed a very peaceful stay with many hours of sleep. Breakfast downstairs was pleasant with sufficient variety of food to keep me happy, especially the delicious marmalade which had far more taste than UK versions. In fact, food in general at the hotel was very tasty, of excellent quality and very competitively priced. We were very pleased to be able to enjoy the evening buffet and a very satisfying bottle of North Cypriot wine for about £30 for two. Even better, weather permitting, tables spead with white cloths are laid on the terrace and lit by candles providing a relaxed and romantic environment for diners. We had intended to eat in Kyrenia at least one evening but were so pleased with the hotel experience we had a long leisurely lunch in a harbour fish restaurant instead

The hotel beach itself, reached by the fit and mobile via a steep flight of steps, is an absolute joy. With only three/four rows of loungers on the sand it has an intimate feel to it. The sea water is clear, warm, free of sea weed and stocked with inquisitive fish, who " kiss" your heels and knees, even in shallow water, provoking occasional squeals of astonishment from bathers. Make sure you take a pair of goggles to watch the antics of these engaging creatures. During one early morning swim I saw a shoal of tiny fish leap out of the water several times, possibly to escape a predator, a magical experience! My husband and I agree that this is one of the best beaches we have ever visited. Employees ensure that all outdoor areas, including the changing rooms, toilets and out door showers adjacent to the huge swimming pool and beach cafes are kept clean throughout the day. Staff preparing food wear protective head gear even when they are visible to the public and standards of hygiene were excellent in all public areas and our hotel room.

Taking account of all these factors it is easy to understand why so many satisfied guests return year after year. Niazi, the owner, continues to take a keen interest in providing an excellent service to his clientele and satisfy their needs. Every day that we were there he turned up to meet, greet and listen to people staying in both hotels and it is this attention to detail which makes the hotel so special. Some groups of British tourists have been visiting the hotel annually for up to twenty five years, meeting as a group in September and forming friendships. As a result, there is a feeling of camaraderie which is not cloying. The hotel attracts well-heeled, more mature clients who enjoy the peace and sense of well being to be gained from the sunshine, fresh air and the interesting trips in the area. If you want company you can find pleasant people to talk to.If you need something to read, a good library of English novels and biographies has been donated by those leaving and placed in a book case in reception. If you take your Ipad, wifi is excellent and flat screen televisions provide football and /or BBC World News, if required English newspapers are available in the supermarket in the village, just five minutes up the driveway.

As you can see from this review, I have a very high opinion of this hotel which gave us the opportunity to learn much about the history and culture of Northern Cyprus and relax in comfort. I must say, we both felt thoroughly at home in this friendly family run complex where staff seem very pleased to serve you well. Don't be put off by the fact that Kyrenia is about 8km away: hail a shared taxi ( dolmush) anywhere along the road and for a ridiculously small sum get driven into town.Guests with mobility problems can use the sloping hotel driveway to the swimming pool followed by the rough track to the sand rather than the steep steps mentioned above. One guest in a wheel chair was able to sunbathe in the swimming pool area on several sun-loungers stacked to a level suitable for him to lie on ; others took lifts on a golf buggy which appeared to be used to transport people up and down the slope. Staff were very swift to assist elderly guests and my advice to less mobile travellors is to contact the hotel directly and specify your particular needs which I am sure they will do their best to meet. In addition, book in the Denikizi rather than the Royal; the former is where food is served.

We booked our holiday with Go North Cyprus and were very satisfied with the service. Additional trips were booked with Direct Travellor via reception. These were highly informative and good value for money.

Finally,I would recommend this hotel to those who seek peace, relaxation, good food and healthy exercise in a hotel which welcomes you.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view. Room 218 was good.

We have just returned from 8 nights at the royal, room was ok, air con very good, breakfast not great selection, cheap cereal ! Paided for Internet , bit hit and miss.
All in all very disappointed with this hotel, too far away from Kyrenia town.the one good think was the beach and pool, staff not very helpful. Not up to my usual standard of hotel
