Vaasa used to be a very beautiful city, but its main square has been spoiled by an architectural horror of enormous proportions, the Rewell Center. It fills one side of the square and is a good contender in the ugliest modernist buildings class in Finland. The hotel is just a small part of the house and accessible from a very small entrance, in addition to the passage from the shop area. Reception is also rather shabby and small. I spent the a Friday night, and had asked for a quiet room. This is essential because there is a night club on top of the building and the downstairs is also rather noisy. After midnight the room WAS pretty quiet, but strangely it had an ugly pillar in the middle of the small room. Obviously the rooms have been constructed after the fact, because the pillar is not very practical. One can get hurt in the middle of the night in the dark if you forget where the pillar is! The breakfast was very good and it opens early so that one can make it to the fast train to Helsinki which leaves at 7 am sharp. But I definitely cannot recommend the hotel for a tourist who wants to see the nice side of Vaasa!

Room Tip: Ask for a room as far from the night club as possible!

This hotel has been recentely renovated and rooms are quite modern and clean. Nothing wrong with the rooms and buffet breakfast is according to the good Sokos hotel standard .
Even if the doors are soundproof the noices from outside the hotel (there is bar downstairs and the hotel in by the central squeer) can be heard. Also party packets, which are sold for the weekends, can make the nights between friday-sunday noicy as party people have their pre-parties in the rooms and when they return from the nightclub at night.

Room Tip: Nightclub is on the 9th floor and the bar is on the ground floor so take a room somewhere in between...

This hotel has a great location right on the central square within walking distance to the seaside.
We had a superior room which was nice and overlooked the central square. A bit small for a superior room but well appointed. The only bad point, I wasn't told about having to drive into the underground parking to access reception and check in. That was an unnecesssary hassle.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on 3rd floor.

I have spent three nights in this hotel so far. Rooms are clean and modern. TV's are some kind of internet tv's and sometimes picture and sound are somehow disturbed. Location is excellent. Staff is kind and breakfast is ok. Breakfast room is well hidden but you'll find it by following the signs. Parking garage is good also, but route from garage to reception is complicated. I'm very satisfied with this hotel and I recommend to try it.

Room Tip: Sauna was in 5th or 6th floor. Try to get room in that floor if you are going to use sauna. Amarillo...

I have stayed in this hotel for couple of times. This time I stayed in superior room and I was really disappointed. It should have been renovated and cleaned better. I felt the sheets on the bed were not the freshest ones... The room was quite big one and bed was quite comfortable but the pillows were not the comfiest ones. There felt quite old and not so soft anymore. And when you pay more for superior room you expect to get something better. So I recommend NOT to take superior room at this hotel.

No unpleasant surprises, everything as it should be. One slightly negative thing-the mexican restaurant is very busy, expect a long wait for service. However-the food was good
