In the 21st century, what kind of a established chain hotel does NOT have air conditioning? The room, while being OK in other aspects, was very hot. The sun had been gazing into the room all day, and upon arrival we find out there is no AC. The personnel provided an electric fan, but how can anyone sleep peacefully in fan induced drag; you'll wake up with your whole body aching. Opening the window is not an option as there's a street below with drunk people acting rowdily.

No respectable hotel establishment should be in the business of inhibiting guests from getting a good night's sleep. Scandic, I am dissapointed, a pleasant climate in the rooms belongs to the basics. Got to say I will not return to this establishment again; a poorly slept night should not come with a cost of +100€.

Beds are quite comfy, and bathrooms ok but overall rooms are on the small side, especially for 3 people. Make sure you book a bigger room if more than 2. Breakfast is loud and chaotic- and more like a cafeteria. Centrally located, but won't be coming back.

We stayed three nights in a Superior Plus room. The room was very spacious: it had bed and sofa-bed, separated by a cupboard, making this almost a two-room apartment. Toilet (with bath and shower) was also large.
The room was of good quality. It was quiet and hotel was able to arrange a nearby room for rest of our group. The only complaint in the room was about beds: also the "real bed" felt like a sofa bed. I hope the hotel improves on this.
The location was great: at the pedestrian street just two blocks away from the river and adjacent to Stockmann department store. It was quiet area, no cars passing by nor noisy restaurants.
Downstairs restaurant had a small playing area for kids. It was well maintained, cleaned every day and selection of toys was very good for our 2- and 5-yo.
Hotel restaurants were nothing special, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was OK, but nothing special. Unfortunately ham and other meat products were not on the quality I expect. Another problem with restaurant was cigarette smoke: for some reason the hotel decided to have their smoking area just outside front doors: smoke came inside and to restaurant. Also, having a row of smokers is not very welcoming when entering the hotel
