Loved every minute i spent here. My only criticism is that there was no guide available to take me through and a lot of signs were in Finnish.

Thank Boardm

Easyly couple of hours spent there. It was suprise how big it is. Lots of stairs so people with walking difficulties maybe would not enjoy it so much.

The castle's guide said that when the restoration began, only the walls existed. Now it is like a maze inside with stairs, turns, and hallways leading off to unknown places. Fortunately, arrows point in the correct direction. It seemed that the route covered representative parts of the entire building, We enjoyed imagining what life would have been like then, living inside. The restrooms were very up to date, rather than authentic of the times.

Near the end is a room where visitors can photograph each other in costumes of the period. Expect to spend two hours walking the entire route if you plan to actually stop and look at things.

We walked the mile and a half from the city center along the very nice paths on each side of the river, passing the maritime museum shortly before reaching the castle.

In my view, Castle of Turku is one of the "must see" attractions in Turku since it offers not only a glance of long Scandinavian history, but also a superb place to have a picnic or lunch with friends. After visiting architecturally precious Castle of Turku and having your delicious dinner or picnic in its garden, you can enjoy the riverside view while eating ice cream and walking along the river of Aurajoki. Remember to put your leftovers to the litter basket as we Finns like to keep our lovely city clean. :) Enjoy your summer at Turku. It is worth it!

I really enjoyed the museum. The first part is more about the old architecture and yes, most of them are empty rooms, but the stone-smell and the dim light really gets you somewhere else. The second part is rich with furniture from the 1700s and beyond, and there's a room where you can wear awesome armors and costumes. It is a long way, full of stairs and halls, perhaps a little tiring, but if you really enjoy old buildings I don't think that's a problem.
You can get there either by bus or walking (a long way). I walked my way back to downtown next to the riverside, and although it was cloudy and windy, you really enjoy the view.
