“Unique deco in the center of town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

Turku is great place to visit during summer and an elegant boutique hotel like this is a perfect place to stay.
- Unique decor makes this place a refreshing stop
- City center is in walking distance
- The rooms are a bit small (except for the suite) but different furniture and park view from old windows make them cozy
- The hotel has convenient parking which was perfect us while driving through Finland

And to top it all, there's a talking parrot in the lobby. What more can you ask :)

Spent a couple of nights here with colleagues. I enjoyed the unique decor of the room and had no issues with anything, even though the single room would be a bit small for a longer stay. Some friends had booked a larger suite, which was quite enjoyable for sharing a few drinks before going to town. The location of this hotel is a bit of a walk from the Turku center (~1 km).

The hotel also has a separate sauna building which can be booked for groups. It has easy access from the rooms and you are able to cool off in the yard, but there is no swimming pool.

If you visit, check out the hotel's parrot mascot, which is over 50 years old.

Room Tip: Try the suites

If your tired of staying in chain hotels with their identical rooms then The Park is just for you. It has a style all of its own and you are going to love it or hate it. We loved it. It is an art nouveau villa on the edge of a city centre park and is furnished loosely in the art nouveau style, with the emphasis on loosely. The rooms are individually furnished and if our was anything to go by, full of stuff. They still have, however, all the usual ammenities including underfloor heating in the bathroom. We only stayed one night so spent a lot of time marvelling at the contents but if you were there longer it might get a little oppressive. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English. There was a certain amount a complimentary food and drink available in the lobby area and breakfast was excellent.

Great little privately owned place beside the park. Close to downtown, lovely grounds and unique hotel. Resident parrot greets everyone and the owners are there to take care of your every need. Old world style for sure. Rooms are small, but each on is uniquely decorated, mostly a blend of Victorian and gothic alpine! Small elevator, but it works just fine. No restaurant, but the buffet breakfast is good...your typical Finnish offerings of smoked salmon, fresh cucumbers and sweet peppers, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese, coffee and juices.

Room Tip: Each room is very different, so be sure to check out all options.

We spent one night in this hotel, it's quite famous among people living in Turku and I wanted to see it myself. The place was a disappointment: two plug points did not work (one was actually hanging from the wall), decoration was old and not in too good condition, bathroom was from the 80ies and it was not tidy, there was no air conditioning and after taking a shower the bathroom was misty for several hours. Also breakfast was nothing special, I've had better in hostels.

The loaction is nice and the building from outside is great, but next time I'll choose some other hotel because I want value for my money and now I didn't get it. This place could be so much more if it was in a better condition, but now it's not more than a bed & breakfast. A complete renovation in tasty style would do this hotel good.

I stayed at this hotel for one for visit. As another reviewer noted, it was like staying with an older relative. The furnishings are dark and heavy but I thought they were interesting. You definitely do not feel like you are in a hotel. There were many positives - the bed was very soft, the lobby and gardens were beautiful, and service was friendly. There is free wifi that worked well. A mini refrigerator was well stocked and had an ice cube tray. The hotel is located a short 5 to 7 minute walk from the train station and an inexpensive taxi ride from the airport. I liked seeing the parrot in the lobby as part of the ambience and greeting. One negative was that at this time of year, the night time is only about 3 hours and there were no black out curtains in the room so I did wake frequently in the night. Plus, the local jackhammer for a city project at 7 am disrupted my sleep but that's not the hotel's fault. I would stay here again.

We spended our wedding night at the Park hotel in April 2012. The hotel is a nice change for all the chain hotels with it's mixed furnitures and south european style. Modern hotel is for sure not, feeling in the hotel is more like visiting grandmother. Our problems in this hotel were that the matresses and pillows were really horrible and the fitted carpet was wery dirty. We were talking with the hotel owner about the matresses and she didn't even apologise for badly sleeped night. Other wise the hotel is nice and breakfast was very good. Lactose free products they don't have. In my oppinion the hotel is much too expensive for what what they have to offer.

Room Tip: The atelier room is big and separeted from others, but sound isolation is not the best.
