“Outdated, boring”

I stayed in a room with twin beds and a children's cot! The room doesn't have a minibar nor any amenities like tea, coffee, toothpicks, comb... Couldn't change to another room without paying for the upgrade.

There's a chain restaurant Huviretki downstairs which has had the same menu for at leat 10 years. Amazing how people still want to eat the same steaks and chicken burgers.

Welll at least it was cheap, around 75 euros a night.

I stayed here for 3 nights,it was -25 degrees outside, and the room had 1 radiator, and underfloor bathroom heating. The radiator had its thermostat fixed to a too cold setting, the room was cold and had to leave the bathroom door open to try and stay warm. The breakfast was ok,the room ok,free internet with good speed. The reception didnt have my prebooking sorted on my arrival, but luckily they had rooms available. The hotel also let me down on booking me a taxi,it didnt turn up,and couldnt get me one sorted either,i had to walk the street nearby and flag one down. The hotel is situated in prime shopping, eateries and bars,it was ideal for walking distance to everything, even for the lake, only 15 minute walk.Although average hotel, would stay again.

If you need a please to stay that is not the most expensive in town, has got language skilled and service minded staff, and your hotel should be near the shops, you should stay at Cumulus. The noisy hotel night club is gone (if you need this, they are not far away), breakfast is standard hotel stuff ... there's a parking garage under the hotel / shared with the shopping mall. short ride to sibelius hall and sports centre by taxi

First the pro's: Central in Lahti. Direct access to the hotel from a parking lot. Ok breakfast, comfortable beds. Good speed on the Internet.

Con's: The reception and breakfast area is situated in a "grey dungeon." with no light . The male receptionists bodylanguage and lack of service mind says that he does not really want to work here. (The blond lady was much more helpful).

The rooms are old and run down. There is no aicondition in the room. If you open your window you will get all the noise from the aircondition system of the big shoppingmall next door to the hotel or otherwise the streetnoise. The Internet connection failed several times during my three night stay. Some of the glasses stacked by the minibar had not been cleaned and changed befor my check in. The cleaning staff walked straight into my room at 0830 in the morning without even knocking on the door to see if I was present or dressed.

Overall - Lahti is a dull city. This hotel is even duller. But still, it does the job if you are here for a business stay. Otherwise, stay clear of this hotel and really of Lahti as well. Finland has much more to offer then this.

My husband was competing in the Master's Athletics Championships in Lahti during the first week of August. Accommodation had to be organised through a travel agency connected with this event and we were allocated the Cumulus. Was not expecting much after reading some of the Trip Advisor reviews and have to say have stayed in worse places. It is well run although staff not over friendly which was unusual in Finland going by our previous experiences. We were left standing at the desk waiting to check in while the sole gentleman attendant had a long and seemingly private telephone conversation. Eventually he pushed the paperwork at us while he continued to speak! Our room was basic but clean although the towels were thin and a bit musty smelling. The dining area was dingy and because of its location could not be aired easily so there was always the smell of stale fried foods etc. I did not eat there but my husband did and said food selection was fresh and good.
The most off putting aspect of the hotel is its dreadful location in a dark and dirty street. The lobby opens onto the street next to the exit of the carpark from the nearby shopping centre and is really a backstreet where kids were hanging out and dumping their fast food wrappers and empty drink bottles. Not much ambience I guess you would say.
Lahti itself was a revelation. The town is not pretty but the surrounding natural features are so beautiful; enormous parks, forests and lakes which are so huge that they seem like a pristine inland sea. plus the amazing ski jumps which dominate the skyline. Well worth a visit if you are touring Finland.

This is a typical representative of the Finnish Cumulus chain. Front desk is friendly, restaurant cozy but rooms quite worn out and having just a small bathroom. For 25 euros you can buy a Hotel Bonus Club card that will give you a 12 euro dinner coupon each night, free Finnish language newspaper and parking for half prize outside of Helsinki.

There are not many good things to say about this hotel, other, than the location is in the centre of Lahti. However, the street is no good, and because of the bar next door, you feel blessed every time you get home in one piece. The cleaning is poor, and the bathroom smelled like a sewer. Service is not a well known word in the hotel, so don`t expect any of that. I have only one recommendation - don`t EVER stay at the Cumulus in Lahti.
