“Fisherman´s restaurant”
Reviewed June 18, 2014

During our trip in Eastern Finland we visited also Kotka and it was about time to have our lunch. Likely we were just in Sapokka and yacht harbor, near the Wanha Fiskari (Old Fisherman) restaurant and went in as our first visit. It was just lunch time in the restaurant and we chose salad table with cold fish products and creamy salmon soup. It was delicious. To drink I chose Malmgård Dinkel unfiltered ale beer, which was just best choice for the lunch with smoked fish! Lunch included also dessert and a cup of coffee/tea. And price was only 20 e/person, for beer extra charge, of course. The menu outside lunch time is quite pricy.

“Best fish restaurant in Kotka”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

I have been at Wanha Fiskari every time when I have to find good place in Kotka. This is fish restaurant and they are serving grate porson. My favorite is absolutely the smoked salmon. All my international guest are just asking are we going to Fiskari? The restaurant is normally quiet and you don't have to make table reservation. Please remember that Kotka is a small town and Finnish don't normally eat outside. The unemployment rate is also very high in Kotka area. Just to give you few arguments why good restaurant is so quiet.

“Good food and service”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Good restaurant and service. I visited the place with my colleagues during a weeknight so there were not so many people.

Food was excellent, I did not expect any less. Huge fish tanks were nice touch for not so cozy restaurant. Not the cheapest restaurant but I was prepared to it when checking out this place before going there.

“Good restaurant in a nice place”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Wanha Fiskary (in English: The Old Fisherman) is located next door to the Maretarium (Fish Museum) near Sapokka water garden. The restaurant is very cozy with big aquariums dividing room in two. The service is very good. The food is fresh and delicious. As any fish restaurant, it is expensive, but I personally was very happy with tomato soup and warm smoked salmon with mushrooms and potatoes (a little bit more than 30 Euros). It is said that the fish soup is fantastic there. The dessert was also very tasty (about 10 Euros). I would recommend to combine visiting the Maretarium, Wanha Fiskary restaurant and the garden. Bon appetit!

“Expensive!”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

Great location and great service. This is a fish restaurant so there were only one option for a vegetarian, but it was an excellent one. Fish portions are expensive (from 30 euros). This restaurant supports sustainable development and serves local fish. Vegetables are organically grown.
