Description: Ekberg is a Finnish artisan bakery and pâtisserie operating its own production since 1852. Quality, expertise and passion are the fundamental cornerstones of Ekberg’s activity. Fresh bread and buns are baked six days a week in our bakery on the welcoming street of Bulevardi, in the heart of Helsinki. Our product range follows today’s trends and varies according to the seasons. Our pâtisserie makes delicious cakes and pastries while our kitchen serves enjoyable food. Ekberg’s selection includes traditional delicacies, such as excellent French macaroons and Champagne corks, as well as new, seasonally varying products. We look forward to seeing you soon, you are warmly welcome to Ekberg!

At the end of a nice afternoon walking around and touring the centre, Ekberg is the perfect place to have a good coffee and some fabulous cake. It's the oldest place in the city and the service is old fashioned good. Thank you for a lovely break!

We loved this famous cafe! We stumbled upon it and when we saw how inviting it was decided to stop for lunch. Service could not have been more friendly. We were immediately seated at a lovely table. My husband chose the daily buffet, which was quite a bargain. I had a delicious open sandwich with egg and shrimp. Superb! Choosing dessert was impossible but the server came to the display case with me and went through all the options. I chose something wonderful! Service, decor, food, ambiance....they are all here in this historic cafe!

Ekberg usef to be a fix star, the place to go for a flair of old times, luxury and delicious cakes and deserts. It is not all gone, but almost... I have been here from time to time for 50 years, and unfortunately it is going downhill. This time the staff was friendly enough, but had no command of Swedish, the second official language of Finland. Finland belonged to Sweden for 700 years, and Swedish turists are frequent visitors here. Some language skills would be appreciated. The waiting time was very long, and among three servings, only two were worth vaiting for. The brioche was great, the savarin as it should be, but the cinnamon roll was dry and without character.

The interior is still worth a visit, and maybe you can have an enjoyable stay on a quiet day. But the fact is clear, this is no longer the number one cafe in town. Today there are so many places where you feel more welcome and where you get better cakes to eat!

Dear Martin-nitraM,

Thank you for visiting us over 50 years! It is wonderful to see our valued customers to come back again again over the years.

We regret to hear, that you have not experienced the premium service and quality products that we want to offer to our customers since the opening in 1852. We do have Swedish speaking staff in Ekberg Café and in our shop, however, unfortunately not everyone have Swedish skills. Our apologies that during your visit this service was not available. All our staff members do speak Finnish and English to guarantee the service to our foreign visitors.

It is wonderful you found our Brioche and savarin perfect. We bake them the same way year after year. The cinnamon bun is also one of our best sellers and made the same way as many many years.

Thank you for taking the time to write the review, we appreciate all the given feedback as it is very important for us.

We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back again to Ekberg!

Best Regards,
Inari
