I visited Kaisla on the advice of a Finnish friend, who used to come here after work on Fridays. I was a solo business traveler on a rainy, cold night in April.
I loved Kaisla's warmth, staff, selection, and atmosphere. The pub has a lot of tables without seeming too large, thanks to its winding footprint between two street entrances. The English-speaking staff was friendly and helpful, advising me on the available beers and ales based on my descriptions and reviews. The selection of bottled beers is huge, with a sizeable variety of draft beers as well. The clientele was mostly local, stopping by for a drink after work, followed by an after-dinner crowd around 8 PM.
The food is really just hearty snacks, not a meal, and it leans toward the heavy and the deep-fried. There is limited table service, but standing at the bar and having elaborate conversations with the bartenders is part of the experience.
Not to be missed is the large selections of Scotch Whiskies, to top off the evening.
