“From tradition to present”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Restaurant Lehtovaara is one of the oldest still servicing restaurants in town. I was around 10 when I went there first time. My all time favorite is the reddish Pepper Steak Sauce and Garlic Potatoes. Today I didn't get it. The new Master Chef had abandoned the traditional recipe and unfortunately not for the better. It wasn't bad at all, just the opposite, it was good, but not as good as the traditional sauce.

Still Lehtovaara remains in my book as one of the very best restaurants in town. Excellent service, excellent food.

“the best restaurant in Helsinki, a must visit, but only if you like really good food, wines and service”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

This place is the best, best food, best service and best affordable wine list in Helsinki. A meal here is not cheap, but it is extremely good and very, very good value for money The wine list is superb, the Neots St. Georges Premier Cru is a delight and decanted too. the staff are very good, know what they are taking about and show their skill and class in their craft. Space at the tables is a breath of fresh air, lots of room for bottles, glasses and everything, no time limit either. A wonderful dining experience. The history of the place is a wonder, starting out in Viipori, until the Soviets invaded, escaped to Helsinki and its been here ever since. Classic.

“Happy New Year 2013”
Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Very pleasant visit with excellent service and delicious food and athmosphere. We had pre-ordered Classic menu; the "blini" wasn't so good, but main course Coeur de filet Provencale 1952 was absolutely fantastic. And the waitress had good play-eye when asking us if want to wait for a while for our creme brulee. Wines was tasteful as well: Prosecco Valdobbiande extra dry, Val d'Oca, 2010 Reisling Silberberg, 2006 Chateau d'Agassac, 2007 Sauternes.
Definitely will go again!

“Birthday dinner with friends”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Had dinner at Lehtovaara, booked table, but when there wasnt crowdy, 2 tables booked and also limted staff, it was holiday season.
Tried to promote that I had Birthday when booked and arrived, but they didnt notice :) sometimes works. Prompt service from old ladies, had 4 course dinner with 2 bottles of Champagne, nice Italian wine, price for 4 people over 500 euro, which is normal in FInland, food and drinks are expensive btu in Lehtovaara food quality was good, enjoyd a lot, location is near Sibelius monument, you need to know place to go there, it has been in same location since 1940 so probably stay there long time still at future
