Description: Authentic flavours, wanton passion, wild herbs, crazy ideas, love for artisan produce and the skill to make incredibly tasty food. This is what Juuri is made of. We want you to enjoy being our guest and to leave in good spirits. Our recipe is simple: we do things right in the kitchen, we respect the raw materials, we want to exceed expectations and we delight in our own work. The result is food rooted in enjoyment. Many people today are discussing small producers and organic food. What could be better since at Juuri we have put them in a central position for nearly ten years. We favour the small and local for several reasons, and taste is certainly not the least of them. We have a rule of four P's for our raw ingredients: Perfect Produce from Preferred Producers. When products are transported from close by they arrive at the table in fresh condition. It is a joy to favour small and local.

Finnish cuisine at it's best. Simply cooked from superb ingredients, yet innovative approach. For dinner, try the Sapas's. Great sit-down value for lunch.

Juuri promised to be one of those special dining experiences. We did our Michelin homework, saw the reviews and showed up for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The menu is basically daily specials, with some prominence to sapas (Juuri's Finnish version of tapas). The food (except for the bland perch and the uninteresting lambkin soup) was actually very good, and is actually very good value ($ 25 for a 3-course meal). But boy, did we have to wait for that food! 40 minutes for the main dishes! Th waitress subsequently apologized and gave us a discount, but by then the whole experience had already gone from promising to boring.

Forget the touristic "Lapland-restaurants" (unless that's what you came for) and try something truly Finnish.

This plave is very appreciated by us local Finnish foodies. Everything is fresh and "from Finland", and in the case of the Sapas (branded by Juuri as the Finnis tapas) it is very very imaginative and rich in Finnish flavours in a form that intrigues you. The Sapas are hard to describe, they are small snacks made from Finnish ingredients, but I have to recommend you take a full course of the Sapas here, it's truly amazing. The main courses are very good too if you'd like to go with something more traditional.

After visiting here, you'll understand why Anthony Bourdain stated that it's crap when people all over the world say the Finnish food culture is poor. You just have to go the people who have devoted their hearts to the ingredients and plates that they are preparing. Same as in every country. And at Juuri they do exactly this, with the best Finnish ingredients and the best Finnish hearts for cooking.

If you don't fancy a plate load of herring or reindeer for dinner, Juuri is the place for you. It supplies a 4.5 per piece 12-strong suite of fish, meat and vegetable Sapas, the Finnish equivalent of Tapas, all of which contain touches of brilliance, from the akvavit marinated salmon to the fresh sausage with vodka mustard. Other dishes featured delicate herring, marinated duck and beef tartare. Two dozen and three bottles of good wine kept the four of us going for a whole evening for €50 per head.

We had wonderful meals here selected from a menu that one couldn't go wrong. Getting sapas is strongly recommended to start your meal, and leave plenty of time to enjoy. The service was attentive and superb.

Reservations are essential. I booked ahead with an email, which worked perfectly.
