Great food and atmosphere and an exotic menu .The private dining rooms are brilliant for a group of people whether on a business do or for a private party. We all started of with an assortment of different starters which were all really good and then moved on to the bear fillet as main dish which was delicious. The service was also very good. I certainly will be back at Saslik next time I'm in Helsinki!

Very Fancy & Pricey, but also very good. Love the Bliny! Very authentic Russian food. This is a great place to take a client.

We visit Finland somewhat every year, after living in the city at the end of the 1980´s for three years. Already at that time we visited the Saslik, especially, when we had friends from abroad visiting us. Now we come back every summer, more or less, and meet with our friends at the Saslik for an evening. We pritty much order the same things, blinis with the Finnish caviar or mushrooms as starters, afterwards meat with the Russian way with lots of garlic and cabbage. We enjoy the atmosphere with singers performing in the background or coming to the tables to present their repertoire. This time, however, the performance was not as nice as it used to be, much too loud in the background. They used to perform for a while going around, good artists, but it was not the case this time. Regarding the food, it used to be better, this time the blinis were too thick, the meat was not to the standard it used to be. Was it only this evening, or is the standard not as good as it used to be. At these rather high prices one expects everything to be perfect, like the dessert was, sorbet with strawberries. Must say, the service was very good, very attentive.

We were talking of going somewhere else next summer, when we turn up. Well, let´s see, maybe the nostalgy trip will take us there anyhow, althought, I really feel, it used to be better.

For someone coming to visit Helsinki, would recommend this Russian atmosphere, anyhow. It is very cosy.

Excellent choices. Good service. Abundant quantities. Check divided agreeably. Russian choices and style. The bear was delicious; the Georgian wine reasonable and good; the appetizer platter different and well-done. Think I will be back before I leave.

Visited Saslik with my husband in the early evening (7 pm) on Monday. There were only a few other people present at the time we arrived but when we left at 8.30 pm, most of the tables were full. Reservation is probably a good idea if you plan to dine on the weekends. Also, in August 2012 the building restaurant was located in was renovated but the restaurant itself was unaffected by the constructions except for the outside.

The food was excellent, we have rarely eaten this well. Appetizers were a nice size, not too big (we had the mushrooms Julienne) but delicious, the main courses were quite big and very tasty and side dishes were complementative to the main course. My husband ordered the bear Pozarski - bear dishes are quite rare in Finland and suited the Saslik menu well. For dessert we had the Baked Alaska - almost too big for two people but very good. If you have a taste for the spirits, order Vanilla Stolichnaya before dessert. It was served frozen ice-cold and tasted amazing.

The waiting staff was friendly and attentive and we felt really welcome. It was also easy to get the staff's attention and both the food and the check arrived quickly. Our waiter also knew her wines and gave good recommendations. The waiter also offered to call a taxi for us - not something that usually happens in a Finnish restaurant in our experience. Tipping was made easy for people paying with credit or debit cards as well. Gold star for the staff for their service! Saslik is not the cheapest restaurant but you'll get value for your money here in both food and service.
