Owner description: The Suomenlinna Toy Museum presents old toys, the oldest of which go back to the beginning of the 19th century. The newest toys are from the 1960’s. The private collection features hundreds of old dolls, approximately one hundred historic teddy bears, and other toys full of history. The toys of the collection are from Finland and thus reflect the Finnish culture and game tradition. Of great interest are for example the toys and games of wartime

Small adorable museum but plenty of old toys. Teddybears, dollhouses, games etc. Well kept. Located at idyllic Suomenlinna. It has also a nice cafe Samovaari which had a fantastic carrot cake and good coffee. Friendly staff.

With a lovely owner and a lovely location, this place is just insanely cute!
Great collection, great food :) and very convenient if you're spending a day in Suommelina.
There's a lot to do in the island and a stop at this museum is a must! :)

I don't know about the doll museum because there's an admission charge, and I'm cheap. Plus, old dolls give me the creeps. But I do know about the baked goods in the little cafe. I naively asked the lady at the counter where they get their pies, etc. My question confused her. "We don't get them. We bake them. In the back." This is a shocking and exciting revelation to someone from the US, where baked goods at cafes are ordinarily baked in an industrial kitchen in some faraway, broken down Rust Belt city. A huge industrial bakery in the most forlorn corner of St. Louis, for instance, where an antiquated baking machine kneads dough under flickering fluorescent tubes. The baker is an old man who stands out back on the loading dock, thoughtfully smoking cigarettes and wondering what happened to America. Why had everything gone so wrong.
