We spent 5 nights in April in a one-bedroom apartment "with sea view" and loved every minute of our stay. The view looked out over the harbor. In summer, it would be a lively scene with many boats. Even in the off season, it was fun to see some boats chugging past. These are NOT the huge cruise ships that dock on the other side of the island--just pleasure boats, plus the awesome ice breaking boats that dock a little farther down the shore. The apartment was large, clean, bright and airy, with nice furnishings and pretty decor. We heard absolutely no sounds from neighbors or the street outside. The lovely owner responded immediately to email questions and was there to greet us. There's a combination washer/dryer which we did not use. The fully stocked kitchen included a dishwasher--and detergent for it! Also there were common cooking staples like oil and spices, so to put together a meal we just walked a few minutes to the supermarket, open until 11pm. The residential neighborhood is lovely and quiet, with beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. Tram 4 stops a couple of short blocks away, and whisked us to the compact center of Helsinki in a few minutes. It was also an easy pretty walk, maybe 20 scenic minutes. A lovely place to stay!

Just returned from a 4 night stay here and loved it. From the initial introduction from Seija it was clear we made a great choice. Lovely location amongst the Art Deco buildings and only a few minutes walk from the number 4 tram which goes within a 100 metres of the central station. It is only a pleasurable 10 minute walk to the harbour centre.
The accommodation has a new lift which is just as well as humping the suitcases up 3 flights of stairs would have been a chore, but easy with a lift. It is amazingly quiet even with the windows open at night. The shower is great with plenty of pressure and all other facilities you would expect are available including iron and board, washing machine and dishwasher.
Big rooms with high ceilings and comfy bed.
Lovely Nepalese restaurant right opposite and you get 15% off voucher from apartment. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again if visiting this beautiful city again

First impression was great as the lady manager was up post midnight to welcome us and to provide us with the keys as also all instructions to the apartment. the studio was exactly as we had seen it online and had most of the amenities that one would need for a short / long stay. Our first visit was for two nights and the second one, 10 days later was for 6 nights. We had again chosen the same place... !! I wrote a thanks for Seija - the manager (maybe the owner) and am looking forward to being there again ... very soon !!

Room Tip: Ask for cleaning every 3 days or else it won't be done until you ask for it...

We stayed 3 nights at one of essexhome's appartments this august. When we were shown our appartment by the very nice owner, we were almost speechless how wonderful it was. You feel like having your own modern flat with kitchen, sleeping/tv room, bathroom and small closet located almost in central-helsinki. A supermarket can be reached only by 2 minutes walk.
We would definitely recommend essexhome but only give away 4 points because with 95 € per night it was quite pricey since we were only 2 people. Still, the apartment fits definitely 4 people so splitting is a great and then very cheap option!

We stayed in one of the 4-person units that Essexhomes had. It was a perfect choice for the 3 day stay we had. Our apartment was in Laivastokatu and had a lovely view, facing the sea. Tho owner, Seija gave us tips on eating and buying groceries in Katajanokka and left us a dossier with directions, numbers and opening hours.

The apartment itself was airy and bright with plenty of natural light and well sized rooms. The kitchen was small but well equipped with tea, coffee, spices, etc. There were several restaurants nearby (two of them - Wellamo and Sipuli were very good) plus two supermarkets. The Market Square and Market Hall (lots of food) were also an near (about 10 minutes).

The location was very good in other ways too. Katajanokka is walkable from most places (though quite a long walk to Hietalahti and the National Museum). And it was quiet, despite being close to the city. Essexhomes is an easy 10 minute walk from the Viking Line ferry terminal if you arrive or leave that way.

Overall, a great place to stay in while in Helsinki. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: The apartment in Laivastokatu (where we stayed) had a sea view. The ones in Luotsikatu might not.
