Took the 13.30 ship Star. Terminal at Helsinki was modern. Boarding was busy but no one pushed or shoved. Some confusion about where the ordinary seating was but we found comfortable seats easily enough. Everywhere was clean, plenty of places to eat and a large shop/supermarket. Wifi excellent. 2 hour crossing and you wouldn't have known the boat was moving! Most noticeable was... how quiet everyone was! Thoroughly recommend.

We used the overnight ferry service on the Silja 'Symphony.'
This exceeded all our expectations and was like a miniature cruise mid-holiday. The ship was immaculate and the staff welcomed us on board, directing us to our 'Promenade' cabin. This was over the shopping mall but was so well soundproofed that noise from below was not an issue. The shopping facilities, restaurants and cafes along the mall were as good as some onshore shopping centres and there was plenty to keep us amused. Prices in the large Duty Free were cheaper than at some airports and the quality of the merchandise in the fashion shops was good.

For dinner we opted for the 'Grand Buffet' and were amazed at the quality and selection of food. It's a popular option but was so well managed it never became a scramble. Everything was nicely displayed and decent red and white wine was available on tap. Tables were allocated on booking and the restaurant was divided into separate side sections, each efficiently cleared by two members of staff. Elements of the self service were fun - like using the soft ice cream machine!!

Sleep quality in our cabin was excellent and at all times the ship was so smooth. The bathroom was well provided with towels, shower gel and soap and for two people the cabin had loads of luggage space, hanging space and shelving. I particularly liked the dressing table and all the lighting options.

One of the nicest aspects was sitting out on deck as the ship glided past the pretty islands of the Stockholm Archipelago, then watching a fine sunset.
The entertainment in the bar area was good and we enjoyed the band, which performed a good mixture of songs with something for everyone.
The whole experience would make me keen to use this shipping line again.
It was certainly a lot more fun than just flying between the two cities!

Our journey from Helsinki to Stockholm was on Silja Line Luxury Cruise. A huge cruise ship with many food outlets and cafes. A big tax-free shopping arcade and Light Star lounge with nightly show. The Argentina Tango show was fantastic and exceptionally well performed by professionals. The music for general dancing was by 4 piece live band playing beautiful music apt for dancing. We had a few dances too. A casino for try of luck as well. The meals are fabulous with many choices. The cabin is comfortable and good hot water shower. The cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm started at 5 pm and sailed the whole night to reach the destination in the morning. A nice and an experience of its kind for us on long haul cruise in tbe Artic region.

We went to Tallin on the Megastar. Returned on the Star. The Megastar has a large Sitting Lounge with nice airplane or train type seating. The Star does not. Had to be happy to track down uncomfortable seats in one of the bars. Surprised to see how much both ships devoted to shopping. And folks seemed to be buying in volume!

Excellent ferry journey of about 2 hours from Helsinki to Tallinn on a comfortable new large Megastar ferry, with it's contemporary decor, a range of different lounge areas and eating options, a huge shop, childrens' play area and large screens for football supporters.

Despite the torrential rain outside, it was a smooth journey. For some reason, the sundeck was deserted!
