It takes only apprx 2,5 hours to travel to Tallinn from Helsinki by this ferry. The boats are spacious with restaurants, bars, shops and even cabins. If you really want to enjoy, book a breakfast buffet for the morning trip and you will arrive in Tallinn sooner than you can immagine. During the summer, if the weather allows, it is nice to sit outside on the deck and just enjoy the tour. Tallinn is always a place worth visiting, and with this ferry it is easy and not too expensive.

I looked at all 4 operators doing the Helsinki-Tallinn run and settled on Eckero Line purely because of the price.

Booking well in advance, and knowing the weather probably wasn't going to be great, Linda Line was too much of a gamble as the fast craft cannot sail in rough weather. Viking Line is fast, but expensive and Tallink also weren't offering great discounts for early booking and seemed slightly over-priced. With eckero line, return tickets were obtainable for the 2014 season from about £30 per person return. This seemed excellent value for money despite the slightly longer crossing time than other operators.

The booking system was easy to use, translated into English well and no sooner had I paid for the booking, I was able to print off boarding passes which, 6 months later were scanned at the port and we were straight on the ferry with no hassle.

On board, the food in the cafe was very good, beer reasonably priced in the bar and the entertainment in the lounge on the return journey was also very good. The staff were also polite and helpful and spoke good english. As we were on our way to St Petersburg and had out luggage with us, the presence of lockers right near the main bar big enough to hold 2 medium-sized suitcases was a welcome addition. These do cost €4 but so do the ones at Helsinki port.

Should we return this is the company we will definitely use again.

I took the boat to Tallin last week and was quite surprised. It was huge with many restaurants, music, live entertainment, gambling machines and a supermarket with tons of cheap liquor. I took a cabin for 30 euro, both ways, with out a window and went right to sleep. I was tired since it was early in the morning and very very cold. The cabin was heated and I loved it. The cabin on the way back was a blessing, since it was so cold in Tallin and the cabin was just what I needed after a long day on my feet.
Tallin is well worth the visit and the boat ride is part of the experience

The boat is very nice and spacious. We enjoyed exploring the boat and the sights along the way to Tallinn. There was entertainment (music, magic show) and some shopping on board. On the return, we had the dinner buffet and it was great.
