“Enough to see for the little ones”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

The museum is not that big, but if you have just a couple of hours to spend, it's perfect for that. The exhibitions are easy to get around and the fee is very reasonable (we paid 10 euros for 1 adult and 3 children). The downside is that it is small, so if you are used to the Museum of Natural History in NYC, this is not your place. Also, if the museum is crowded, it is very crowded, as the halls are small and the elevator is in use all the time.

But, if you like to get a glimpse of Finnish and Nordic nature in a short time, this is you place. The animals are quite lifelike and the Dinosaur hall is great. Kids will love the huge skeletons and just the right amount of fun and knowledge.

The museum is easy to reach by walking from Kamppi metro station and the Central Railway Station.

“Fantastic experience”
Reviewed November 24, 2011

I was in the Museum in October and I had a good time. The exhibitions are interesting and the animals are beautiful. I liked that the exhibitions are interactive so we can get to know the animals easily. In the Museum there is also a shop and a small bufett.
And on Thursdays the entrance is free of charge at 4-6 pm.
So I recommend for everyone especially for family with children. :)

“Not Worth the Effort”

Small dull affair, very parochial, but not much else to do in Helsinki.

“Brilliant place!”

I just visited London's Natural History Museum and it was a big disappointment after visiting here. I surely recommend this place!

“A nice little museum”
Reviewed September 1, 2005

I'm a big fan of natural history museums, and I always make an effort to visit them when I'm visiting a city. The Helsinki Natural History Museum was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours, although it's nothing special. It has a very kid friendly atmosphere with a lot of hands-on exhibits and explanatory panels. For me, the highlights of the museum were the extensive displays of Scandinavian animals, posed in their natural habitats. The museum also has a nice collection of skeletons, an exhibit on dinosaurs, and, bizarrely, a stuffed 2-headed calf.
