“This hostel met all my expectations.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

I stayed in Sheap Sleep Hostel for two nights. In general, I liked the place- location is very good, just above grocery store and a minute on foot to the bus- and tram station.
Friendly stuff gave me all necessary information. Moreover, one may book a bus/tram ticket at the reception desk, it is very convenient.
I booked 10-bed women dorm. It was my first hostel experience and it was above my expectations- clean, modern room with electronic safety boxes, small lamp and a pair of wall outlets next to every bed.
The thing I didn`t like was a shared hall. Every evening it was in a mess. Unfortunately, there is nobody to blame, but some of the guests. But the kitchen was well equipped, three shared fridges (do NOT forget to signe your food before you put in in the fridge :) ), electric oven, microwave oven- the set which never leave you hungry. But there were some advantages of the shared hall- there were a lot of things to do- table games, books in different languages, booklets, brochures and maps of the city.
So, CheapSleep Hostel met all my expectations and in some points was above them. As it was the cheapest accommodation in Helsinki for the May holidays, it was a great choice.

The hostel has potential to be great but has a very weird vibe and most people keep to themselves. Located a little further out of town but close to a few bars it's not a long walk into town past the lake. Wouldn't recommend going as a lone traveller due to the vibe - or lack thereof but would be fine in a group. Staff we encountered weren't particularly helpful and seemed to lack knowledge (or chose not to share) of the area and helsinki in general.

Brilliant hostel in Helsinki! All was clean and very spacious! When we were there we had very friendly staff who were helping us at all the time. The location of the hostel was ok to find and not too far away from all tractions that you can see in Helsinky.

The hostel was very nice to stay in, provided all the necessities and had a very helpful staff. The beds were good and you were given a free locker.
Location-wise it's close to a newer part of the city, Kalio, which is a bit farther from the centre, but very reachable by public transport. I even walked it a few times (about half an hour to 45 minutes)

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay :) the walk to the city center through the wooden house district Vallila is indeed quite nice and you get to see the youthful Kallio district where you can find many popular bars, cafes and small cute shops. It's also quite quick to walk to the nearest subway station (1km away). The subway will take you to the city center in only a few minutes. Welcome again!

Came to town just for overnight. Excellent fot that although it was Friday evening it was calm and quiet in a big dorm. Thanks to fellow travellers. Clean and cheap surved me perfectly plus exvcellent connections to city center and to the airport just round the corner

Room Tip: What you need, dorms have less privacy than rooms, but lockers for your valuables is really a bonus...

Good facilities, access to refrigerator, stove, water, microwave, etc. Good accommodation for price, not one of the most lively atmospheres but has a large main room to sit with other travelers. For those just looking for a nice, comfortable room to sleep its a good fit. Only difficulty is access after about 8 pm, the cheapest way is the bus but its wasn't easy to navigate at night. Staff helpful.

Room Tip: Most all rooms are well kept and comfortable, depends on your need for privacy. All bunks had person...

The staff is really nice and helpful. The room is OK. Its quite clean as well.

The special thing about it , though, is the price. Really cheap. Worth going for sure.

Its right besides a major tram station ( only 5 minutes away on foot ) so you have access to the whole city.
