Well, we decided to join in with the celebrations of New Years Eve while visiting Helsinki. There was a great atmosphere with great live music, although I couldn't understand a word they were singing. :) the highlight of the evening was the fireworks which started as soon as the Cathedral bell struck at midnight. Absolutely fantastic display. If you do ever decide to go there on New Years Eve be prepared to be squashed as you try to leave the square. No crown control so was a little scary. Wait until the crowds die down before you leave.
