Helsinki is about architecture (granite and marble - portuguese marble as well!! ) and music and green places and cafés and relax!

Regarding the Sibelius Monument,Eila Hiltunen, the sculptor, was brilliant! Acid-proof stainless steel tubes, hand textured, and suggestive of a birch forest! I loved the place, because you can "feel" music even without hearing it!

Sibelius Monument is situated in Sibelius Park on Mechelininkatu. This unusual monument was created over a period of 6 years by sculptor Eila Hiltunen. Hundreds of steel pipes were used and then welded together in a wave-like pattern. This monument was dedicated in 1967 to honor the most famous Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius (1865 - 1957).

This was one of the most amazing pieces of sculpture I have ever seen. It is dedicated to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius and is made up of over 600 steel pipes welded together. It offers an awesome view from any angle. When the wind blows it makes it's own music! It is a must-see when you visit Helsinki.

Sibelius Park and Monument is a nice attraction for an hour or less. The monument is pretty cool. With the stop for a few photos and to have a look. I'd say 30 minutes here and around the park, which is very nice. You could stretch it to 45 minutes if you want, but no more than an hour, and that's if you want to sit and relax a bit. If you do, bring a coffee with you. But it's cool. Have a look.
