We visited on a day when the stadium was not in use. We viewed it from ground floor level, then took the lift (small charge) to the top of the tower for the most spectacular views over the complex and the city as far as the port and beyond.
The word "legacy" has been over-used re the London Games, but this is an example of how to create a legacy. The main stadium is surrounded by sports facilities, which were being used by schoolchildren during our visit and are available to the public as well as to local teams.
Take your camera up that tower!
