“Wonderful museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

We just returned from a cruise of the Baltic and decided to spend time at the National Museum. We found this museum extremely well arranged and moved smoothly through the exhibits without getting confused. It was very informative and gave us a good incite into the origins of this nation. Not to be missed. Since you will be close by don't miss the church in the rock which is within walking distance. What a creative use for a solid rock, very inspiring.

“Great museum to explorer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

The museums are divided into 3 floors which over 10 exhibition halls. Very impressive for those Scandinavian old maps in the last part of the exhibition. The hall of 1910-1950's Finnish way of living also worth to spend most of the time there.

“Lots of interesting displays. We liked it.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

Excellent collection of Finnish folk art including painted furniture, clocks, etc. We liked the tall clock in the shape of a woman. Also a large collection of silver including many early pieces. The café is pleasant and offers a reasonably priced luncheon selection. There is a tram stop just in front which makes access easy.

“Needs to give more background history for us heathens!”

IMO did not isolate truly Finnish history and culture from Russian, Swedish, etc.. Good cafe in basement. Lighting could be better to read the interpretive signs.
