We walked from Helsinki harbour along the sea front to the Mannerheim museum. As an admirer of Mannerheim it was fascinating to see the house he lived most of his later life. This was a man who sat right in the centre of the cataclysmic events of European history. Service in the Czars army, victory against the Reds in the Finnish Civil War, successfully negotiating a path between the behemoths of Nazi Germany and the USSR to see Finland emerge with independence.Only recently has his contribution begun to be recognised.

New Exploration as to this museum. Most importante Finland's leader you will find in this museum. He set the foundation of soverigns .He was a true heroin the winter against the Soviets and well managed to overturn them during their great summer of 1944. Manneheim was not a plain soldier, he had special characteristics such as fluente in diferente languages, cultures and abobe all cuisine.
With regards to religion he had no set-back specially where Jews were concerned. Jews were even allowed to serve in the Finnish army and they built a Synagogue in the field.

This is a special museum. Mannerheim is the "George Washington" of Finland, and he was one of the most interesting leaders of WW2. I went yesterday and had a small group (4 people) tour in English by a thoroughly knowledgeable and unbiased/independent thinking young guide. The house is a keyhole to understanding Mannerheim, and the more you learn about him the more interesting he grows.

He had to make serious decisions to save Finland, which was caught between Hitler and Stalin, with whom Finland has just fought a brief war. While he decided to join the fight against the Soviets in WW2,

After my visit, I did some online research and learned that Mannerheim refused to turn over Finland's Jews to the Nazis. Moreover, Jews were allowed to serve in the Finnish army and they even had a Synagogue in the field. And Mannerheim celebrated Finland's independence day in 1944 in Helsinki's synagogue.

He was a strongly principled man who fought for his country and Finns can be proud of this heritage, I would return to this museum next time I'm in Helsinki
