“Reasonable and value for money”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

we stayed there for one night in July 2013. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. The location isn't the best and the corridors look tacky. The staff was not the most polite that i have found. Though the hotel is good if you don't want to spend too much.

The room was clean, basic and comfortable. The size including the bathroom was not great but cosy enough for a good night sleep.

We didn't get too much exposure from the service but the check in and check out was without a hassle.

The location is the only thing that gives the hotel an average rating. It is not centrally located but on the Helsinki out skirts. Public transportation is close by with good links inbound and outbound.

As for value, it certainly is much better than other hostels at the same price level. If you don't mind the extra travel time, the place is worth the value for a short stay visit.

Good rooms, a Little small but with a good Kitchen. Prices are good for Helsinki. Clean rooms. Location is a Little outside the city but there is a tram close by. Sauna just like everywhere else in the City. Not the best neighbourhood. But good Parking

Let's put this straight: This hotel (which is co-located with a training institute and originally likely was meant for the training participants) is not pretending to be anything else than an OK overnight stay for 25-30% less than the ordinary business hotel in the outskirts of Helsinki. If your plan is to find something like this, you will not be disappointed. The hotel positions itself above the not-so-good hostels at around 50 EUR a night but below the not-so-good hotels like Holiday Inn at around 110 EUR per night.

The surrounding area of Helsinki (not central!) is clearly not the most charmful spot of Helsinki. It is shaggy. But accessibility to both the city and airport is easy through the bus stop just 200 meters away. The hotel building is build (I guess) in the late 60ies and has no charm either. But the rooms have been renovated and are clean. Bathrooms small. Beds comfortable even though not wide. No noise from within the building or the street.

Wi-Fi is not included which is stupid. TV channels? Not many and lousy image quality.

Breakfast is "Finnish basic". Full stop. Complements for the fresh bread, though.

Summary: If good value is key, then this will give it.

We slept 3 nights in this building with my wife. The location is not interesting for tourists - you can catch the tram if you walk 300 m but the city centre is far away, about 30 min by tram. We only went there as part of a big group, and this hotel has many rooms.

Honest three stars - poor, but clean, the room is nothing superfluous - but spend most it, as in Helsinki for a sum decent hotel, you will not find. Afflicts only paid wi-fi...but spend a night before flight to Europe - is OK. Have free parking

Helsinki is an expensive place to stay, and if you want to save a bit of money the Ava Hotel is a nice choice. It's not very centrally located; about a 50 minute walk from the central station. However, public transport stops just around the corner, with buses departing every minute to the city centre and a tram service, as well as the airport bus.

The room is nice, the bed is great, and the bathroom will do. The service could have been better: it would have been nice if they had vacuum cleaned the room once or twice during my stay. Being allergic to dust mites, this service was sorely missed.

Wifi is available, but the only option is purchasing a 24-hour ticket at 8 euros, which I personally find a rip-off. Wifi reception is fine though.

Recommended if you're on a tight budget and don't mind using public transport.
