Scandic Continental is very near the main attractions in Helsinki. It is very well connected by Tram line to the central raliway station. The tram station is just in front of the hotel at a walkable distance of less than 100 mtrs. The staff is very courteous and the breakfast spread is also very good. Though the hotel had lot of other facilities like Sauna, due to time constriants I could not make use of the same. The elevators in the hotel have security deature so unless one has a room key one cannot operate the elevator. The rooms are quite spacious and gives one the value for money.

It's like a construction site now, because they are renovating whole hotel from top to bottom, so
it's not that fair to give 1 or 2 stars now, because it could be 4 or 5 in few weeks. This use to be famous and in 90's standards luxurious hotel way back then, but after that they haven't done much, so "facelift" is definitely good thing. But I was very disappointed that they didn't say anything about the on going renovation when I booked my room. Price was bargain(88€), when you are staying so close to many of major attractions(Opera,Finlandia house,Parliament,Olympic staduim etc.). But unfortunately they didn't even have parkingspace right now, so I had to park to neighbour hotel(Crowne Plaza) and my 17hr park was 29€.

Room Tip: Ask room facing frontside and you get distant sea views

This is a hotel with a lovely wiev over the Tölö bay if you happen to have one of those rooms facing in that direction. Next to perfect location, close to the city center. But as I wrote in the titel, it is time to renovait and it is going on as I write, it is about time because the hotel feels worn-out.
Quite normal breakfast buffet, but something I have not seen in many places was blueberry soop and I liked it a lot. The dinner meny was nice but the prices were not cheap. The food was good but the service slow. Big swimming pool and sauna on the 9th floor. An OK hotel and hopefully soon even better after the renovation. Could not, by the way, hear any noice from the work going on......

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the Tölö bay and on the higher floors and you will have a lovely wiev.

Okay, let's cut to the chase. Pros & cons;
+ Cheap and moderately close to Helsinki city centre
+ Good enough breakfast buffet, very basic
+ Our room was in the 9th floor, which was quiet
+ Spacious restroom

- To our surprise they gave us a room from the smoking side, so an old cigar smell lingered in the room.
- The furniture looked very outdated.
- There were movie channels, but the signal was really poor so the picture wasn't pretty to look at.
- There were an option that you could check out via Internet, the hotel sends you a text message where you can find a link to this site. The text arrived at midnight, not fun to wake up to this.

In short; Basic old hotel, nothing fancy or special. If you're looking for cheap (by Finnish standards) room & breakfast, this is a "okay" choice.

Hotel situated in a fairly central location, with easy access. The Scandic Continental is good. Rich and varied breakfast (I did not use the restaurant, but seems to have a good menu), the rooms are comfortable and gib, as well as the bathroom. I found everything clean and in order.
The décor is classic, a little dated but in good condition. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet, even though overlooking the street and at a low floor (excellent thermal and sound-absorbing glass windows). The price is good .... in short, I recommend it!
