“Excellent hotel to stay in Helsinki”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

We have booked a room for about 4 days and we were not disappointed. The hotel is very well situated, 1 km away from the Mannerheimtie and on the extension of the Esplanade. The hotel based on the desigh style is located in the small but very quiet street. Staff is very friendly and helpful with high professionalism. Rooms are quiet, very clean and the bathroom is very fashionable with shower surrounded by transparent glass. Therefore, our room seems very spacious. Take the Superior level of the room in order to avoid smaller and less confortable rooms.
Finally, the breakfast is excellent with fresh bread, fruit, warm dishes prepared every morning and all that you might need to get a full and healthy breakfast. No hesitation : we recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Just ask the hotel for a quiet and bright room and your wish will come true.

I would stay nowhere else. We had a few problems when we first arrived in Helsinki and had to change a few dates of our travel. We where only to stay at the Glo to start for 3 nights but we ended up having to stay five. They moved things around to help us out in a time of need. They made phone calls arranged dinner for us. The staff went above a beyond to help us. When we where finally on our travels they kept in touch with details until we returned. We used the Glo as a home base. This was planned even before we left Canada. They kept pieces of our luggage so we did not have to take everything with us. We travelled around Finland by train, bus, taxi etc.. So easy to get around. Thank you. Till we meet again.

Room Tip: There is no bad room. We stayed in four different ones all over the lovely hotel. It is a beautifu...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Glo Art Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is beautiful - gorgeous reception area and breakfast room and exterior.

The room itself is modern and had a clean, fresh feel to it. The only down-side to the room was it's size. It really was tiny! There was space for a double bed (with 2 single duvets!?), a bedside table on each side, a very narrow wardrobe/shelves (very little space for hanging clothes!). The bathroom was in the room with a slide door as opposed to how you usually feel like you're going into a separate room - as if it had been added as an afterthought. That said, there were clean towels and soap and shower gel were provided. We were on the third floor and it was very quiet - no noise at all from other rooms!

The breakfast was great - choice of scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheese, really lovely fresh bread, coissants, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, teas, coffees, juices. Can't complain! Breakfast is served until 10am weekdays and 11am weekends, so there was never any rush to get there early.

Location-wise, I thought this was perfect. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main square (where the airport bus comes into - NB Take the 615, it's quick and cheaper than the actual airport bus). There are loads of restaurants, bars, shops around here. Sights are in easy walking distance and the market square/harbour is only 10-15 mins from the hotel. If you don't want to walk though, the trams are very convenient.

Reception staff were polite and helpful.

Despite the size of the room, I would stay here again and recommend others to do so. I wish I could recommend restaurants nearby but there are so many and we didn't have a bad meal anywhere. I would recommend the Viking restaurant 'Harald' though! It looks touristy but the food is actually really good and no more expensive than anywhere else.

Good example of modern hotel design. The location just off the Esplanade cannot be bettered.

Stayed here three times. I would have to subtract a half a star for a fairly chaotic breakfast room (the staff seems to scurry around pointlessly, things run out and are not refilled instantly, and you can never actually seem to find out where the spoons and bowls are..), and another half star for the facilities.. the sauna closes too early, the bar downstairs is adequate, but no more than that.

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We arrived before the normal check-in time and although our room was not yet ready, they upgraded us to a very nice suite that was ready. That was a pleasant surprise especially since we had booked through expedia.

The furniture and design of the room was very sharp. Bed was comfortable. There was a proper shower with rain fall shower head and fully closing glass door, a plus and something of a rarity.

The location is pretty good, we walked to almost everywhere (most sites and restaurants were within a half mile or so).

Staff was helpful although they did seem a bit busy.

PS. We had lunch at the casual place next door, Jalla Jalla, which was pretty good. Also had dinner at Farang, which was outstanding.

Room Tip: Upgraded suite was nicely appointed, although ours did look out on the 24 hour gym across the street...

After what seemed a long walk from the train station. What a wonderful surprise. This hotel can only be described as outstanding. The lobby was fairly dark and the room seemed a long way from the lobby, but what a room. Very large. Lovely wooden floors. Brilliant shower. Just couldnt fault it. Music was playing from the TV when I arrived. Very welcoming. Lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was just the best. And the walk back down to the town didnt seem so long when I wasnt struggling with a suitcase. It is a wee walk from town, but not a problem.
Highly recommend this hotel. Free internet in the lobby. Always good. Loved Helsinki too.

Room Tip: I think any room in this hotel would have to be good

Great breakfast. Very clean rooms. Save some euros at the end of the day for a cab because it is a long uphill walk at the end of a busy sightseeing day. The room and shower are a reasonable size and the bed very comfortable.
