“Good hotel, unusual set-up”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Helsinki Glo Art for 3 nights in June. The hotel is an excellent value in a generally expensive city and overall our experience was very positive. The staff was efficient and friendly. Our room was very comfortable with lots of hi-tech touches and an excellent bed. Breakfast was very good with extended hours on the weekend and lots of well presented choices. The location was satisfactory as well, just a 10-minute walk to the Esplanade in the center of the city. The only slight negative about the GLO Art is the physical lay-out of the property. It is actually two hotels - the old historical building that contains the lobby and a modern building with the majority of the guests rooms. The buildings are separated by a little roadway that leads to an inner courtyard and access to the modern wing requires multiple uses of your guest key-card and numerous sliding and swinging doorways, some electronic. It's not a big deal, but it was unusual and a little annoying on occasion. Still, I would recommend the GLO Art and stay here again if visiting Helsinki.

The hotel is a replica of a castle when you enter, dark and feeling like you stepped back into history. Staff kind, efficient and friendly.
The rooms are quite state-of-the-art, hi-tech.
The room we stayed in for one night was very very small, but comfortable. The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was great.
Buffet breakfast was good, well done and presented.

Nice hotel in the city center of Helsinki. It was right on the main shopping street. The hotel has nice design rooms, which are small but offer everything. Breakfast was expensive for what was served.

Used to stay in this hotel couple of times before it became part of GLO - hotels.
Gotta say, that the hotel is much nicer now.
Good location, also the service is very good. Rooms are very nice and peaceful.
The building itself is very beautiful and historic outside, but the hotel inside is very modern.

I stayed at the hotel with wife and some friends, in May. The Hotel is very good. Rooms were well equipped but felt they were small. Also the bathrooms were small, but well designed and adequate.

Location :
The Hotel is a good 10 minute walk from the main street / square.

Breakfast was good and served in the Hotel Restaurant.
Overall the service was very good. Would positively recommend staying here.

Only negatives :
i. The Room did not come with a Tea / Coffee kettle
ii. Also it was very tight on space. If you have big bags then, space will be a issue.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room. Standard Rooms tend to be small.

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in May. We liked the reviews of the hotel and the pictures and price before we booked and we definitely enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately we did not get to try breakfast as we were up too early. It's about a 15-20min walk from the train station or Esplanade (both easy walks). There are a variety of restaurants nearby. The hotel lobby is pretty cool as well as the outside. We stayed in a double deluxe room in the "newer" building on the right. Room was pretty modern with plenty of space. Bathroom was pretty cool with a see through-ish glass in the shower. Only issue is the water really runs all over the bathroom. I know it's Europe and so that's often the case but this was particularly crazy. The room and beds were comfy, staff were very helpful. Would recommend.

A nice hotel with an interesting and different décor. Room comes with electric beds, flat screen TV and an unusually frosted glass panel bathroom. You should be aware that this means there is not much privacy as you can partially see through this glass.

It's a 5 minute walk from the main square, 10 minutes from the port and harbor, 20 minutes walk to the beach. One thing to know though is that there small room is exactly that!

Breakfast is good here. Comes with Crossiants, pain au chocolate, porridge, cold meats and cheeses, fruits, pickled fish, lots of berry jams and some really nice breads.
