What a city !! Having set our base in Tallin it was inevitable that we would visit Helsinki. It is the most tolerable, clean city that we have visited, easily walked around, people & cyclist friendly.
Visit Fazer cafe, not far from the port if you enjoy a little decedence, fantastic pastries & chocolates in fantastic surroundings.
Try the trip around the harbour, if only to see Suomenlinna, once one of the greatest sea fortresses in the Baltic, going around all the little islands that make up helsinki, and if you are lucky watch the moose swim in front of the boat !! When you return to the port eat on the port side fresh fish & veg freshly cooke in large woks- delicious !! If you don't fancy Al Fresco eating go to the Old Market Hall on the esplanade where there are a variety of stalls serving up a multitude of dishes, from fish to reindeer.Lastly don't miss out seeing The Church in the Rock, which was literally dug out to form a fantastic atmospheric church, where the acoustics are so good that they hold concerts & recitals.
