“Worth for its location”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

This hotel is ideally located in the center of Helsinki. Very practical to visit anything or enjoy the very nice city that Helsinki is (especially with such a beautiful summer as that of 2013). The room was OK although the bathroom is rather small and our safe was not working. The breakfast is particularly good as very diversified. People were OK at the lobby but I still think there is room for improvement there. But all in all this is rather good hotel.

This hotel is much better generally than its ugly cousin, the Scandic
Continental which I reviewed in 2010. First and foremost it has an
adequate supply of lifts which makes for quick and easy trips to and from
the reception. Furthermore you can actually take the lift into the 'Forum'
shopping mall which is very convenient for getting supplies etc if you
don't fancy raiding the hyperinflated minibar. As for the rooms
themselves, a twin single in this case, pretty good, comfy beds and a
decent 'wet-room' style bathroom with a generous shower. My stay was
pretty much undisturbed by any extraneous noises. The only criticism I
could level is that the TV menu and available channel selection is pretty
dire but at least they are using flat screen TVs. The free wifi,
however, helps to mitigate drawbacks in the entertainment department. The
central location and the proximity to the bus station which serves as a
terminus for the very convenient Finnair bus makes it an ideal post or pre
flight stopover if you plan to venture into the Finnish interior. You can
also post letters from the reception which is staffed in a friendly and
helpful way.

Good modern hotel near public transport and a few minutes walk to night bars and restaurants. Ten minutes walk to the harbor. On the walk also a lot of shops and restaurants. Rooms are good and comfortable. Breakfast good but sometimes crowdy. Nice music at the front desk. Was already there a few times. It was great every time

Room Tip: All the rooms were good.

We stayed for 3 nights as a party of 5 people, four adults and one child. In one room, we had two twins plus a converted single-sized sofa bed with a shower/tub combination, and the other room had two twins and a slightly different style bathroom with a corner shower. Both rooms were smallish, and for the one with 3 beds, we had very little space to walk around. We had wanted a big bed for ourselves, but unfortunately that style didn't seem to be offered. These are not rooms to linger in, they are just for sleeping. The design is functional, no added touches to brighten your stay.

Our bedrooms (on the 5th and 6th floors) overlooked the plaza behind the hotel. We could also see the amusement park in the distance. It was good for people watching, and wasn't too noisy as long as the windows were closed. There was a small window which could partially open to allow a breeze.

Rooms had adequate plugs for charging electronic devices and also very good speed of free wireless internet for unlimited devices. We also had a TV, a minibar, and a small safe. The safe was so small that we could only fit our passports and the like -- it would be impossible to fit an iPad or laptop.

Bathrooms were adequate, with either a shower or tub/shower combination, and a hairdryer on the wall. Shampoo and body gel were provided in large containers attached to the wall. Towels were thin, and were not changed if you hung them up (for the environment).

This hotel comes with a free breakfast, and we very much enjoyed the quality and variety of the food. The buffet style breakfast included yoghurt, cereal, bread, fish, cheese, meat, eggs, pastries, etc. The restaurant was exceedingly crowded on a Saturday (come early to miss the hordes), but was notably more relaxed on a Sunday.

The front desk staff were helpful in booking us a large airport taxi for 5 people, which came to EUR 48. We were also offered coffee and muffins on our final morning, since we had to leave before breakfast was served.

The location of the hotel was very convenient. It's a few blocks from the main train station, and a 10-15 minute walk to Market Square and the harbor. There are many shops and restaurants in the area, as well as trams and buses to take you anywhere around the city.

The hotel has a bar. We stopped down for a drink on Saturday night. Seating is limited, but we managed to get a table with a nice view of the plaza. Staff are friendly and the drinks menu is varied, but slightly pricey.

If you are looking for a convenient and adequate hotel, this will do the job. It's not particularly a luxury or pleasure to stay at, but very doable.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views

Stayed here last weekend, this was maybe 4rd of 5th time here and it has never failed. Location couldn't be better if you are thinking public transportation, shopping, bars/restaurants etc.
Modern exterior and rooms are functional. Front desk was fast and friendly. Breakfast was good, but really crowded, so we had to eat in lobby bar(they know this, because there was a info of that in the elevator)

Room Tip: Take room from upper floors. First floors may be little noisy at weekends(nighttime)

few points: it's a nice and quite new hotel in the centre of Helsinki. Rooms are clean & quiet, beds are comfy, and breakfast is delish. On the other hand the customer service is lacking, someone knocked our door at 8am (we came back to the hotel quite late so this was very unfortunate)...but all in all the hotel is good. nothing special, but it worked fine for us. we explored the city a lot, and staying close to everything made it so much easier.

I stayed in this hotel over a weeekend in July and the location could not been more perfect. It was located bang in the middle wiht all shopping and hustle and bustle. The hotel itself is new hotel and quite impressive looking. The rooms were decorated very well and are very spacious. Queen size bed eneded up being a king size and the room had ironing board and trousers press.

The breakfast was inclued in the price and it was amazing. It was a buffet style breakfast. The selection was excellent and the quality of food very good. They catered for lactose and gluten free intolerance very well.

On the arrival I noticed that the shampoo and body wash, as well as, face tissues boxes were empty. You would think that hotel makes sure that all these are available when new customer arrives.

The service was one of the minus points. I did not find the staff very helpfull and not much effort were made to make you feel welcome. I did feel that even asking where the toilets were downstairs were too much. I tried to order room service one night and had to ring 4 times to reception and still had no answer. Alos one of the TV channels (BBC World) was not working and instead of offering to fix it I as told to come watch the tv downstairs. It was 12 by then, so I don't think I would have been confortable watching TV in my PJs at the reception.

I had discounted rate to stay in this hotel, and would be happy to stay here at the same rate due to the location and an excellent breakfast.
