I stayed in this hotel over a weeekend in July and the location could not been more perfect. It was located bang in the middle wiht all shopping and hustle and bustle. The hotel itself is new hotel and quite impressive looking. The rooms were decorated very well and are very spacious. Queen size bed eneded up being a king size and the room had ironing board and trousers press.

The breakfast was inclued in the price and it was amazing. It was a buffet style breakfast. The selection was excellent and the quality of food very good. They catered for lactose and gluten free intolerance very well.

On the arrival I noticed that the shampoo and body wash, as well as, face tissues boxes were empty. You would think that hotel makes sure that all these are available when new customer arrives.

The service was one of the minus points. I did not find the staff very helpfull and not much effort were made to make you feel welcome. I did feel that even asking where the toilets were downstairs were too much. I tried to order room service one night and had to ring 4 times to reception and still had no answer. Alos one of the TV channels (BBC World) was not working and instead of offering to fix it I as told to come watch the tv downstairs. It was 12 by then, so I don't think I would have been confortable watching TV in my PJs at the reception.

I had discounted rate to stay in this hotel, and would be happy to stay here at the same rate due to the location and an excellent breakfast.

The location is absolutely brilliant. A short walk from the rail station, tram stops at the main entrance and a tunnel access to subway and Kamppi shopping center. Breakfast was slightly above average in Finnish standards, so it was pretty good. Rooms are ok, but the curtains aren't very good so the sun may disturb your sleep.Tip: buy a 1 or 2 day ticket for HSL (Helsinki public traffic company) so you get to travel on bus, subway, and tram as much as you want - cheap and convenient way to get around the city! Most of the lines go through Kamppi station, which is right next to hotel.

The hotel is in a very central location, about 35 euro by taxi to the airport.
Walking distance to everything in the city centre.
The bedroom was only average. Basic enough 3 star quality.
The hotel bar is poor enough.A lifeless lobby bar.
The breakfast room is a little better and the food quiet good.
Overall average hotel.

Having stayed at a couple of Scandic hotels in Finland, I found this one to be of a better standard than others.
The lobby and bar area is nicely lit, with quite a good atmosphere, especially in the evenings.
It always felt as if this hotel had something going on.
The food in the restaurant is of good quality, albeit slightly more expensive than some restaurants in the area.
Well placed for seeing Helsinki, just 5 minutes from the station and a 20 min walk from the south harbour it's a good base to see Helsinki from.
The rooms that look over the square can suffer from noise, especially from a night club at 1 end of the square. Also rooms at the west end of the hotel can be disturbed by tram noise.
Gym is fairly well equipped and clean.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: South East Corner are better, and upper floors do get some sort of views over Helsinki

Good location, close to train station, airport bus and close to shopping. Room not huge but ok size. Bathroom good size plus it's own sauna. Bed very comfortable, nice linens and pillows. Room had its own deck over looking square . Metro located in square so excellent location. Service was good. Plenty of choice for breakfast and quality of food was decent. A good place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the square with sauna

I stayed in this hotel alone for work - on my own cost, though. I chose the hotel because of the central location and because I know that Scandic hotels are accessible for a wheelchair user like me.

It was accessible. The location is a bit difficult because there's an uphill from train station to the hotel but I figured out I could go through the shopping centre Kamppi to avoid the hill. The room was spacious and nothing was placed too high for me.

The only disappointment was the breakfast. The hotel was quite expensive but the breakfast was not too varied. I would have liked more choice. I was surprised that the staff wasn't as friendly as in other Scandics.

Scandic has their own program for regular clients. The members get points for staying there and points mean benefits. I was very sorry to hear that this stay of mine didn't get me any points at all because I had made the reservation by telephone and not online. It's unequal because I can't be sure to get an accessible room. I have to make sure I will get it by calling.

Stayed here for the second time over the weekend with a friend. The hotel is situated practically next both to the main railway station and coach station in the city, as well as next to the tube and above a huge indoors parking lot. Lots of restaurants, sights and shopping too.
The room was clean and of good size. Beds ok, but the pilows were worn and much too thin. Practical but nothing extra. The receptionist gave a warm and professional welcome. The lounge was packed of tourists so the hotel seems to be popular. Almost too popular I'd say as the breakfast was simply chaotic. All hotel quests seemed to have breakfast at the same time. The tables lie very close to each other so you felt as if you had been in somebody else's party. There was food enough okay, but people in crowds tend to make a mess. I normally sit for a good while and enjoy my breakfast when travelling, but in Scandic Simonkentta this was out of the question.
