“Highly Recommended in all seasons (low and high)”
Reviewed April 9, 2007

This is a very good choice, recommended to me by a Helsinki native.

I've spent three vacations in Helsinki and this well-located, design-centric hotel was well worth the reasonable price. It is NOT a posh boutique hotel, so if you are look for high-end Finnish design stay elsewhere. But I loved my room and will stay there again. Scandinavia has fewer apartmental and bed and breakfast options (cheaper alternatives which I prefer for longer stays), so this is a great choice. I've already booked a second stay for this summer.

  • Liked — the room was sensational. sleek design--for the price
  • Disliked — the housekeeping staff wouldn't return if they arrived at an inconvenient time. . i adjusted.

No frills with regards to interior decor but the rooms are lovely and warm in winter and are a decent size too. The location is great for nightlife and also within walking distance from the centre. Nice traditional Finnish breakfast.

The only problem is parking, which involves taking your car to this creepy empty garage several blocks away, definitely not recommended for lone women late at night.

Reasonable value for Helsinki - popular with business travellers (especially Russians) and tourists alike.

We stayed at the Anna for 3 nights in June, 2005. The hotel needs to be refurbished. The lack of airconditioning leaves you with the choice of opening the windows and getting the street noise or having a quiet but stuffy room. The location is in a generally residential area and is a little further from the center of Helsinki than we expected. All in all the hotel was a disappointment and we would not stay there again.

This hotel is really terrible, they have 7 floor and the elevator only go to the 6 floor, my friend got a room in the 7 floor and he have to carry the luggage to the 7 floor, they give me an smoking room, and I asking them to change my room, and the only thing they said is, they are full booking.
Not air conditioned and the bed mattres keeping falling from the bed.
I have this reservation may since Decembre of last year and I sent it e-mail and we even call them, asking about the air conditioned and they said they have, but I don't even see the ventilator, was very hot days. I can't sleep because the smell in the room. the room smell is like humidity.
I don't recomend it this hotel

Hotel Anna seems to have plenty of vacancies, at least in low-season, as it usually shows up on web search engines. And it was the first hotel offered by the airport booking desk when I arrived hotel-less on Good Friday. So be re-assured this is an excellent tourist hotel, spotless, quiet and with friendly helpful staff. The breakfast buffet is good and even includes porridge! I paid Euro 80 for single use of a double room over the Easter weekend.

It is located just off the main city centre about 20 mins walk from the railway station and 10 minutes walk from the main tourist areas i.e. shopping streets, the market square and the ferries. A tram and bus stop are just round the corner so it is conveniently situated. I think it has its own private parking for motorised guests.

The immediate area around the hotel is quietly bohemian with bars and ethnic restaurants of all hues, although the hotel can point you to several local traditional Finnish restaurants.

A good choice for singletons, couples or families.

We (two adults and two children) stayed in Helsinki at short notice on a Saturday night recently and the receptionist at the Hotel Anna was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a fair rate on the room, willingly set up extra beds for the children, checked ferry times, directed us to where we were going and and called us a taxi. She was really very pleasant to us and, although we didn't have time to stay for breakfast, I'm sure the food would have lived up to the rest of the experience.
