This hotel is right in the centre of Helsinki, 3-4 minutes from the Esplanade. It is a rather Stalinist 1950s building obviously put up in the garden of a fine art-nouveau house, which is now some sort of club. Rooms, decor, and foyer are austere.

We had to stay here owing to heavy booking because of the Athletics championships, and paid more than we had intended. The room had a poor outlook over roofs and plant, but was clean and tidy. The bed was austere, too!

Excellent breakfast buffet, comfortable lounge, free tea and coffee at certain timesof day; and helpful if sometimes rather dour staff. Very good supermarket opposite for picnics.

The deal for cable TV and internet access seemed much too pricey.
On the whole, very convenient location, but not without drawbacks.

The maginificent Kamp Hotel was full so we ended up in the Rivoli Jardin. It might look OK on the website but don't be fooled. The lobby and breakfast area look like a 1970 eastern European disco. The rooms are OK but there was no air condition and despite being in the shade and in early may it was very hot in out rooms. The windows could hardly be opened. OK bathroom but no heated floor. We paid 140 euros per room which I guess was for the location which is great, right off the major boulevard and still very quiet.

This place is sold heavily on being a 'boutique' hotel - but is actually a very ordinary bed breakfast in a good location. It's very expensive, and while there is nothing wrong with the place, you're not getting good value for money. Try the Scandic Marina instead - big rooms, great facilities.

We stayed there in summer 2003 and really liked it.The location is great - close to everything and yet very quiet (except one night when a really drunk hotel guest was singing and screaming in the courtyard and the stone walls multiplied the screams - and the hotel did little to stop him, but I guess they just love their guests having fun..)Our room was very modern if a little bland, but the beds and the bedding were great; the breakfast just fabulous and they served the Best coffee we ever had in Europe. The staff was very efficient and helpful even though they didn't always share American opinion that you just have to smile to be great.
