Eurohostel

Good, clean very plain rooms.
Showers and bathrooms are shared, separate for men and women, seemed to be cleaned regularly.
Positive surpise was the cooking ability, kitchen has cooking utilities and you can rent a private locker in the fridge (With a 10 € deposit)
Good location, although not really a walking distance to the city, tram goes near by

Helsinki can be an expensive city and this hostel came in cheaper than most of the other options. But overall, despite nothing being terribly wrong with Eurohostel, it was a bit average. Helsinki is a fun, friendly, design conscious city... this hostel is missing a trick by not doing more to reflect all these elements!

Good points:
* Safe and secure
* Right next to the #4 tram stop
* Easy 5 min walk to Viking Line ferry terminal
* Free sauna before 9:30am (but why charge in the evening?)
* Functioned well (everything seemed to work)

Bad points:
* €5 a day for WiFi! (Really? This is complimentary in so many places these days - do you really need to charge THAT much)
* Staff were perfectly fine - but lacked the passion and willingness to volunteer local tips that makes staying in other hostels such fun
* Missing the friendly atmosphere and other usual opportunities/activities to meet fellow travellers

I stayed here for 2.5 weeks. It's not horrible but not terrific either. The positive: relatively clean; easy access to downtown (if you don't mind walking a little or taking the tram); breakfast with good variety (oatmeal, yogurt, sandwich makings, two warm selections); fairly convenient if you arrive via ferry. The negative: I didn't sleep too well (noise from the tram and from the hallways); besides pots/pans, the kitchens are poorly stocked (not enough dishes, and there aren't even salt/pepper/oil available); sauna closes early (at 9:30 pm); extremely slow internet (that costs 5 euro/day!); bathrooms which often had a sewer-like smell; inadequate laundry facilities (there are 2 washing machines that the hostel uses to wash all their pillows and comforters (they even dumped those items all over the laundry floor while I was trying to do laundry). There's no common space in which to hang out (and the kitchens close at 11 pm). The staff is friendly but not the most responsive: for instance, I asked them to change a light bulb that never got changed. I would stay here again if I had to (the price was right) but I would explore other options first.

We stayed in the hostel for one night. Sailed from Tallinn by boat from Eckero Line. Unfortunately, arrive to the hostel takes about an hour (4.5 km). Next time choose a different ferry. Accommodation starts at 2 pm. You can leave your luggage. The entrance to the kitchen on the card. Morning for free, you can use the sauna (little people). Generally very expensive, as in the whole of Helsinki.

I stayed at the Eurohostel for three weeks during August. This is basically the kind of place where you stay when you can't afford staying anywhere else. It's a big hostel, and that means a lot of people, and therefore it can be noisy, especially if your room is close to the kitchen.

The mattresses are not comfortable and the rooms are OK. The showers are pretty good but I hated how everything was automated in the bathrooms. No free Wi-fi and breakfast is 8€ if you don't have tickets for it.

You are a 5 minute walk to the market & harbour. The hostel is located on the edges of town, which makes it quieter, and offers nicer super market options. Easily accessibly by Tram 4. Drops you off a few steps away. I highly recommend a day pass for transport if you plan to visit the tourist sites, as most of them are on the other side.

Room Tip: take the tram to the hostel.

Eurohostel was just great. It's a hostel, yes, so you'll share a bathroom, but they have twin rooms and it's super clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Overall it was a great experience and I recommend it.
